i have been searching through the forum website about mafless tunes as i am thinking about getting one. i have recently installed a di fillipo 2 1/2" cat back exhaust, mcai + 2nd hole mod, k&n air fillter and 4" maf pipe.
There is a lot of information about this subject which explained most of the questions i wanted answered. However i have noticed during my search that high octane petrol is commonly used with mafless tunes.
My question is; if i get a mafless tune do i have to fill the car up with high octane petrol, or can i still use 95 or normal unleaded.
cheers

You will only have to use high octane fuel, if it's tuned with it otherwise you could use 95. However, you will not get the same results with a lower octane fuel..since you can not extend the timing as much

What would be the consequinces of running a 98 octane MAFless tuned car on the regular stuff?
98 is pretty much available Australia wide isn't it?

mafless with dual tables can run any type of fuel, if you want more power you need 98 upwards, so it will use the high octane table. but will run on low octane as well so they are safer tunes now, if it has dual tables in the program. if it doesn't have dual tables can only use what it was tuned on, most likely 98.

mines tuned to 95 octane ... so thats what i use ... if for some reason 91 ends up in there i will loose power.. but 95 is definatly widely available... would get more power if it was tuned with 98, but probably not much

Awesome, that pretty much cleared up all I needed to know. The last time I looked into mafless tuneing people were having all sorts of trouble with pinging and the like when 98 wasn't available. Sounds like it's all sorted now though, just gotta make sure the tuner is using dual tables.

You need a custom operating system to run dual tables in MAFLESS mode. EFI Live and HP Tuners has this capability.
Using the standard operating system in MAFLESS mode only allows the use of the bottom table ala a GTS tune.
