I'm thinking of updating the R8 next year, and I would like some feedback from VE R8 owners, who have had a VY2 or VZ R8 previously with the 8 way electric seats, how they are coping with the 4 way seats now offered.
I am pretty well convinced that the VE is the way to go, but I am a good distance from the dealer, and have not had an opportunity to check it out for myself to allay my concerns.

Hi mate,

The E Series R8 is great. I have owned VY, and a good mate has a VY R8.

here is a couple of threads i have up on my R8

Regarding seats, the seats in my R8 are great, i think they are just fine, but arnt 8 way adjustable... Still super compfortable... There is no movment at all i.e. travel under load (brakes/Accel) like the VY. Only think i didnt like about the seat is the sides are a bit soft, I ended up with a bruised knee after having it pressed against the console wall and drivers door after doing 100km around the race track

Performance, my neigbours R8 with Edit, GTS Maf Pipe + tune, full Koni Adjustables lapped mid 1:16's, the E Series was lapping 1:15.00 full of fuel, spare tyres and all with 1000km on the clock, out of the box .

The ride in the E Series is smooth, and i mean REAL smooth, 50 Zone speed bumps @ 50 are smooth :bravo: The VY just wouldnt soak up the bumps in the suspension

heres a VY R8 v E Series R8 :)

Hi Carl,

Those are some nice photos!

What is it like acceleration wise compared to the VY (and VY2, VZ)?

Thanks,

Alex

Thats great, thanks, what does the 4 way actually control?
Is the seat forward/back now a manual deal, and the seat back manual?

The overall acceleration is almost identical to an Edited ls1 with 3.9's, so low 13 second car... The diffrence is in the low down torque which is noticable over ls1, the 275 rear offer grip in the rear, and the suspension also helps keep the ass end to the ground... Cant wait to see what a stocker will do the quater in with some snails attached, i reakon mid 11's on stock street rubber :xmas:

Its all manual mate, up and down is electric, nothing else...

I had an Adventra and the one thing I thought I would really miss was the electric seats, but nope I do not miss them at all. If you are the only one that drives it it stays in that position anyway...

From my perspective, that sucks, I'm someone who always needs to get the right seat position when alternating with my wife's seating position and vice versa, so the lack of this feature will affect my choice of car replacement.
Yet another downturn of model features. Listening Holden?

I can't really comment about previous R8's, but as you may have seen from a previous thread I moved from an FPV GT to the VE R8 and couldn't be happier.
4 way / 8 way seats aside, from a performance perspective the R8 feels quicker than my GT, that had a full Di Filippo Quad system, SS CAI, Power Snorkel and Blue Power Racing Edit - the new R8 is an awesome vehicle!

WOW ... yeah, I would have expected 8 way fully electric memory seats

I believe thats a GTS thing?

Personally, i couldnt justify the extra $10K for nicer seats, stereo, 20's and MRC... I cant think of another option for around $10K :yup:

The GTS has them. Remember that the GTS is the equivalent to the Z Clubsport R8. The E Clubsport R8 is equivalent to the Z Clubsport which has the 4 way seats.

Cheers, John

Does the GTS have memory seats too? Or just 8 way electric??

Cause even my Adventra had a 3 memory seat thingy lol.

So many people would argue with that but I totally agree.

The idea of possibly getting TT setup means more to me than the GTS ;)

In saying that, if i had the extra money, i would be getting a GTS and TT's :yup:
