Hey folks,

I just got myself a VZ SV8. Its a Holden Exec driven car and was sold as a "certified vehicle". The car is great, and I really love it. Its still as tight as a drum, however, there are a few niggling little things that I'm not 100% satisfied with. I want to get an understanding of whether people here deem each of them to be reasonable or not.

I will also let it be known that I am quite fussy with my cars, and the following (small) list is everything that is wrong, other than what's below, its what I would expect from a 1yr old car.

1. Transission makes a "squeal" when backing off the accelerator at med-high revs

2. They balanced the wheels and performed an alignment, but the wheel is off centre

3. The wheel shakes (slightly) under brakes and the pedal, although not like a custard tart, is not as firm as my old SV6

4. The windscreen makes a vibrating noise sometimes, as if it is missing glue along a section of it

There it is, not a complete crap shack that's for sure. Anyways, let me know what y'all reckon.

Hey folks,

Possibly the accessory drive belt

2. They balanced the wheels and performed an alignment, but the wheel is off centre

Either get them to redo it or take it to a specialist your happy with and get them to do more than just a "toe and go" alignment

3. The wheel shakes (slightly) under brakes and the pedal, although not like a custard tart, is not as firm as my old SV6

Steering wheel shaking under brakes is common and usually a result of warped discs, overtightened wheel nuts. machine or replace discs will usually fix.

4. The windscreen makes a vibrating noise sometimes, as if it is missing glue along a section of it

No idea.

There it is, not a complete crap shack that's for sure. Anyways, let me know what y'all reckon.

That should all be under warranty anyway, possibly excluding the wheel alignment.

1: Not sure, but is it manual or auto?

2: I'd say get another wheel alignment from someone who you can trust and get them to set the wheel straight at the same time.

3: Probably need to get the front discs machined or replaced.

4: Are you sure its from the windscreen? Sometimes it can be the plastic rectangular section at the centre/base of the windscreen rattling.

Hope some of this at least helps.

Yes, I remember when I questioned the above gentleman about my squealing transmission in horror only to be relieved it was merely the belt. Underdrive pully probably helps reduce the momentum of the various bits hence reducing the noise.
