Hi Guys
Was hoping that someone could help me. Am looking to get the leatherwrap sports automatic gearshift and have been speaking to the dealer. They are unsure about it and said it may have to be fitted by HSVi. Spoke to spare parts who are getting one in to check for me.
I was wondering whether anyone has had the standard auto gearknob changed to what holden call their
Auto Leather Sports Shifter which on their website has a price of around 75 bucks and comes in different colours
If so is it something spare parts can do or is it done by HSVi so I can let the dealer know
Thanks for any feedback

Don't know for sure but i believe that would be fitted in the factory when ordered, however i'm sure that if they can supply you with one there is no reason why you couldn't fit it your self.

Thanks for that. I know HSVi are going to the dealer to fit the flat bottom steering wheel. I find it a little hard to understand that one one knows where it comes from and who does it.

u should be quite capable of doing it your self if you know your way around a screw driver.

Had both the steering wheel and auto shifter options on mine...the local dealer fitted them both, odd that HSVi is doing the wheel on yours. HSVi did the reverse sensors on mine, but everything else was either factory or dealer fit.

Whats the crud about HSVI being the only one to fit them. I had sports wheel and gear knob changed on mine as per spec but the salesman called me to enure it was what I ordered - wrong. They just changed things pre-delivery; so it is an easy fix to your liking!!!

The other day I went to Barry Bourke's in Berwick (where I get my cars from) to see if they had one of the optional steering wheels in stock so I could see/feel it and whilst there noticed they had the red shifter and a couple of others for sale (red one = part 92184835 from memory) all in a display cabinet for sale for about $72 all up. Common sense would say fitting one should be a cinch and the fact that they are displaying them for sale like that would tend to confirm that.

Hey Guys,
Thanks for all your responses. I will speak to the dealer today to work out what the go is. I believe that the shifter can be done by the dealer. As long as they do it and do it properly before i pick up the car i'll be happy.
Thanks again
Ed

Steering wheel and auto shifter were fitted at the dealership by HSVI during pre delivery on my VE SS. They also fitted the HSVI ID plate under the bonnet with the option codes stamped on it. I would guess that HSVI have done a deal where by they are supposed to fit these options

Thanks...Should I check for the plate when I pick up the car to make sure it was done by HSVi or do you think thats more of a gimmick?

I'd be looking for the plate. Should be there and at resale time it won't add anything however it at least shows it was factory optioned. Also as it says HSVI those who are not in the know may think HSV has done some work on it if you get my drift.
