I was wondering if anyone is having problems with the steering wheel scroll wheels for the stereo, my left one that changes the radio stations seems to stop working sometimes, if i then adjust the volume (right scroll)it operates again.

It has only happened to me once, but then I realised that I was also browsing folders menu open for mp3.

Once I exited that I was able to skip to the next track no probs

I have issues with the "voice in" phone system kicking in and shutting the radio off. I reken mine is operator error (me or wife) such as hitting the phone button when turning a corner or just not realising its been hit in normal city driving (or so I hope).

Trouble with that left button you refer to is that it controls so many things if you depress it in any way.

Mine stops working if the overspeed warning has gone off. Once I lower the speed so the warning goes off everything operates as per normal again. Was your overspeed going off at the time

The C.A.N. is probly MS based software. My sound system sometimes makes farty noises thru the speaks when adjusting sound volume, A/C temp, Voice in or turning on or off..... Does this happen with any one else??? :toetap:

With ours I noticed today that when scrolling between radio stations, you have to do it really slowly so you only scroll one position. If you slightly over do it, it doesn't register. I reckon the whole scroll thing is a bit of a wank factor... But still, it's no biggy. Although I don't know if its a fault or if it's supposed to be like that?

Cheers

I disagree I think the scroll is fantastic, far better than the buttons on the previous model.

I had a problem when I first got the car the scroll button played up for about 10 or so minutes. No idea why and almost 3 months later and has never re-surfaced.

Just got delivery of new Calais V V8 today. after about only 1 hour of driving listening to the radio the VOICE IN mode cut in and will not switch off even when car is off and locked. Took to a dealer who hooked many a device to it but no luck even tried replacing front panel but problem stayed. Did you ever solve the VOICE IN problem??

Have had the same problem - left scroll wheel in the DOWN direction, but dealer said "could not fault it". They cleaned the contacts, but it's still not working. They didn't fix the rattles I reported either.

I had the same problem on my car. Whenever something would update it would stop the left scroll wheel from working.

It was especially annoying as it would happen everytime the sat nav updated the position in the speedo display. Thus it would stop working everytime you turned onto a new street.

At the time the dealer came out to have a look at it for me and said that they would have to take it to the workshop to have a look. After a day in the workshop they told me that it was because of a faulty left scroll wheel and they would have to order a new one in to fix it. Personally I think this is full of crap as why would it work perfectly except for when the display updated. It was obvious to me, even with no experience fixing cars (but a lot of IT troubleshooting experience) that that was not the cause of the problem. Never the less the I was willing to give them the benefit of the doubt and try this to fix it. Sadly my car was destroyed about 3 days before it was booked in so I never got a see if it worked.

Add me to the list as well.

Noticed it start to happen a few days ago, mind you it was after i played with some audio settings with the key out (so it doesnt get recorded to the key), this may have something to do with it, i really don't know.

When the left scroll doesn't respond i use the right one to adjust volume then the left one will work again for a little bit then "freeze" again and i have to repeat the whole cycle again.

Maybe this is just the next little gremlin to pop up :werd:

Yes have this same problem with clubby. When playing cd's and you fast forward a song its delayed for like 1min or so then all of a sudden it will fast forward it.But if u push the controls on the stereo it works instantly but not on the left hand scroll. Its just annoying if u ask me,it only does it every now and then to.

Never had a prob with mine. I have operated it with speed alert active no issues. Bluetooth connectivity is fine and no prob. I cant seem to replicate any issues.

Which i guess is a yay from my POV.

Had my l/h scroll wheel replaced and still plays up occasionaly, i think the problem maybe stereo/program related. I will live with it rather than go back to the dealer.

That is what I told them when I took my car in to have it looked at. But despite my very strong case to suggest that is was a software issue they still said it was the wheel.

Mine just started playing up over the weekend too. I was listening to a CD and went to skip a track using the scroll wheel but nothing happened. I forgot all about it next time I jumped in the car, so I'm not sure if it's reset itself, or if the problem is still there. In fact, I'd forgotten all about it until I read this thread.

I agree it appears to be a CAN or software issue. My fathers WM Caprice does the same thing, sometimes no response from LH wheel yet use the RH wheel and then LH wheel will work.

The dealers loan Berlina (the salesman gave him to drive while they replaced his split fuel tank!) also did exactly the same thing.

But it also does other things, like auto wipers will do a sweep for no reason.

Took my car for a nice drive (finally) on the weekend, and thsi happened to me. I was driving and all of a sudden i realised it would not change songs on the left scroll. I than noticed my overspeed warning was going off. As soo as i went back to slower speeds and the overspeed turned off, all was back to normal, so i think that when the overspeed works it doesnt let you use it. Have no idea why, but its the only time it happened to me.

I've found that if it's on the wrong menu on your screen where the speedo etc is that it will not work for changing tracks. Other than that it's been fine.

From time to time my left scroll wheel stops working and I have no radio/CD info on the dash - the only connection I can find is that it's usually after I've paused a CD or turned the radio off for some reason. The only way to reset it is to actually switch the car off completely and restart.

I also raised this with the dealer when they came to look at my car and it is because you have the wipers set to "auto" on the stork and something passes over the sensor to set it off. Apparently things like shadows from trees over the road etc. can set it off.

I just set it to "off" unless it is actually going to rain.

I have given my scroll wheel a name, Aspro; (slow working dope) as it feels like it takes forever to go through each action like changing tracks on the CD etc

Yep happens with mine maybe 5% of the time for no apparent reason - just have to resort to reaching over to the stereo to change things no biggey...
