Okay i have been overalled also with the new VE HSV's.
What is the best buy, is there much difference between the R8 and the GTS,apart from price?
What is the better dollar for dollar value.

i guess it depends if u want to do track days in the car - if so then i would get the gts as it as mrc.

For me, i went with the R8, with the money you save, you can do some kick ass mod's :bounce:

I think the GTS will hold its value a fair bit better. Get the GTS if you are a big fan of leather. I think it is worth the extra cash just because of the resell value compared to the R8.

The big difference is the MRC suspension which is apparently brilliant!! Plus rims are 20's instead of 19's and the interior is leather (although you can option that up on the R8).

For me was the r8 with leather,MRC on gts not worth 7k what there saying there leather seats has 70%suede and 30%leather looks absolute awfull after 20000klms and who wants to spend $2200 on rear tyres that lasts 20000klms.Resale value will be shit cause a little birdie told me the gts is going to get a bigger engine before the r8 does and thats not the gts-r either.

Value for money, for on road use only, R8 hands down. And a little birdy tells me that the GTS's are selling like hotcakes but the R8 is a little slow off the lots. Go the R8 and knock the price down!! :D

Black R8 at Wakefield right?? :D
What I meant is if the guy wanted to use a car for road only, the R8 would be better value - not that you cant take an R8 to the track....

Were you there that day? I cant remeber a black Z Clubbie... i remeber a VY... Dam memory...
good point, the GTS might be better if road only though, depending on just how smooth that MRC is... The R8 is smooth as though, if that MRC is smoother :drewl:

I considerd both GTS and Calais V. i would love MRC, but went for wolf in sheeps clothing in the Cailais V with a few mods and more to come - mine is now way beyond stock GTS performance specs and also has the advantage of the Calais V having every feature known to man - except the spoiler and look at me coppa which is intrinsic to wild side looks of HSV.
IMHO I cant justify the price difference under any circumstance, even though I could afford the GTS!!!
Only bit I would love over the calais V is the 275 rears of the HSV and the different traction control that HSV allows some wheelspin rather than totally bog the power down off the line as in all other holden setups!! IMHO turning the ESP off fixes the issue anyway.

The same can be said about an SS-V .. why buy a R8?? .. the money you save can buy you some kick ass mod's.
Personally I'm moving from a Clubby to a GTS and for me its the pinnacle in HSV's.
I test drove both cars and both are brilliant.
It gets down to what you can afford and personal taste.
I love the GTS 20" rims and yes they will cost a fortune to replace the tyres. All good thats my choice.
If you havent tried the MRC .. do yourself a favour and try it. Take a GTS for a test drive. It is awesome.
This will be my third HSV from new and finally a GTS that I can afford :yup:

I read a review in MOTOR magazine on MRC and they think it is the best thing since sliced bread, but yeah the price difference between an R8 and GTS is alittle to much.
However if you got the cash lying around then go for the GTS for sure.

The GTS for sure.
If you are able to drive each for a while, the difference is recognisable.
If it's just more "extras" you are after, then the Senator would be the pick.

For us we got the Clubsport as it is our first HSV and we decided to start at the lower end and if we liked it enough we would continue to go up a model as we change cars every year or so, but saying that I could not really see a lot of visual differences between the R8 and the GTS (do not jump down my throat this is MO) :)
And we are thrilled with our Clubsport love love love it :)
