Well My day turned crap around 4:15pm today as per below..

Some unlucky guy on his Aprilia 250 was killed out the front of my house this afternoon. It appeared to be his own fault. He was going very fast after pulling out onto Cranbourne Rd, got the wobbles up, lost control and hit the large concrete centre divider.

It was a scene I just could not believe. His helmet was at least 20 metres from him and his bike about 60 metres up further which launched off the concrete divider into the back window of the car in the picture I took!! It was a scene of chaos and disbelief as the car that was behind them witnessed the whole thing with 3 children in the car. The Poor lady was hysterical as was the person in the Calais which the bike hit...

I guess all I can say is please be careful coming up to Christmas on our roads.
I feel for these families and the emergency services having to deal with this carnage :(

It is a sad reality.

As per the news website.

The first death was in Essendon, in Melbourne's north, at about 8.45am (AEDT) today. A 26-year-old motorcyclist died at the scene after hitting a Toyota Camry that was travelling west along Keilor Road.

Later, a three car intersection pile-up left a man dead in Melbourne's south-east

At about 4.15pm (AEDT), a motorcyclist died in Frankston, in Melbourne's south-east, after his motorcycle hit a concrete strip. He died before ambulance crews arrived.

At about 4.40pm (AEDT), a pedestrian died in Nepean Street, Watsonia, after being struck by a motorcyclist.

And in an off-road crash, a motorcyclist was also found dead near Firmins Lane, near Morwell, at about 3.30pm (AEDT) today

sad, really sad.

I dont like motorcycles. I'll never ride one (atleast on the road). Too many people i know have been seriously injured/disabled (atleast 4 people) or killed (3 people, including my best friend this year).

I just dont think you should go faster than 30km/h without a big steel cage around you for your own safety. The Majority of drivers on the road are ignorant and/or blind. You can live through a bad driver changing into your lane while your in it with just a couple of dented panels and a repair bill. Its a whole 'nother story on a bike *shudders*.

Then again, unfortunately, car or bike, you can only protect people so much from their own stupidity.

Testostrone is a powerful thing in boys will be boys and proving manhood - unfortuntely a fact of life. For evey decision you make make, you have to own the consequence and repercussion of your actions!!! but in this cae, its the family and loved ones who suffer:bawl:

Well there just isn't much room for error on a road bike. And when you see some of them weaving in and out of traffic, using the emergency lane's on freeway's during peakhour, it's almost as if a whole different set of road rules apply to them. It's very unfortunate for anyone to loose their life on our roads at any time of the year. And even IF you do survive a major accident, the chances of walking away unscathed are minimal. Whats worse is that the family and friends are left to pick up the pieces. It's up to you.

Well that answers why I couldn't get home to Langy yesterday afternoon without detouring through Karingal.

I ride a bike myself so I notice bikes all the time, It's surprising the amount of 250 riders (I know there is lots of big bikes as well) that are riding like they think they are racing, big revs, tucked down riding position and excessive speed all in built up areas

Yes only 3 months ago i was up right happy and about to ask my girlfriend of 5 years to marry me when

I was involved in a horrific accident early september where a person in there 4wd came flying up to an intersection and quickly did a right hand turn into the path of me overtaking a slower car only to be confrunted with a 4wd in front of me at 120ks all i can remember is it was a massive explosion with my car torn appart me torn out of the car

Now i lay in hospital less some internals less the use of my right leg and i will i lose everything i have worked for , and questions like where will i work when i get out with a disability.

So i aggree with the message "SLOW DOWN" as i would do anything to change the events which have changed my life.

young bloke on a 250cc near frankston....Odds are hes probably a trainee at HMAS CERBERUS?
The way these guys drive/ride when the get their hands on a powerful bike/car is nothing short of stupid. I was lucky, i never had a crash while i was there, but u could pretty much garuntee someone would prang there car every weekend. Unfortunatly young egos, first high paying job, long stretches of roads, BOOZE and lack of training all add up to horrific crashes and injuries like this

hi

it is sad when i read of any death on the road let alone a motorcyclist.

I ride bikes myself and im no angel but there is a time and a place for everything, i do not split lanes at the lights etc and it is amazing the number of times i get a toot because a car thinks that i should have.

It has got to the stage my bike has been out 6 times this year, im thinking of turning it into a ride day bike as it is just getting to dangerous on the roads with the fast pace lifestyle we are all starting to live, longer work hour, family commitments and the preasure of life itself, when do some people find time to sleep, people need to realise that once you hop behind the wheel of your car or hop on your bike, nothing else matters, you are in charge of a leathal weapon and if you act accordingly.

If your angry or have an arguement with the other half do not get on the road. the life you save may not be your own but least you wont have the guilt to live with.

please be safe on the roads with christmas coming up we all want to see our loved ones again or your children grow up.

just my 2 cents.

Its unfortunate that people don't take the road safety message more seriously. People often have no concept of the pain that these sorts of events can cause the families, and communities that they come from. There is also nothing worse than having to go to someones home and having to tell their loved ones that they have died, then deal with your own grief at some of the horrors that you have seen.

My condolences to families and everyone involved.

May your recovery be quick and the pain minimal! good luck.

My g/f and I went and laid some flowers this morning. Yesterday there were obviously a lot of friends/family at the site laying flowers. Some arrived on motorbikes standing there weeping. Such a reality check!

Thanks.

My eyes have opened up to what can happen as i feel lucky as there are so many people in re-hab with far more serious injuries than me ,that have lost limb's ,eyes etc and still have a smile on there face.

I have driven some seriously fast cars and never looked at crashing ,....But it's the old saying ".......The one you don't see is the one that will get you"......

But as soon as i get my TAC payout i will have a new VE 6ltr with all the mods riding on 20's

Some people will never learn :)

But i will drive it carefully that is the difference

Regards

Tim

i have a very sad tale from work today. Police persuit of a stolen car, this bloke was going ballistic running over median strips and the like at mach 1 throughout the city. The polce called off the chase but shortly after this megamaniac hit a 13 year old schoolgirl doing the right thing by using the pedestrian crossing. Estimated speed of impact was 140kph plus in a 60 zone.

Won't go into detail but the prognosis is not looking good and she was airlifed to specialised medical services. Imagine the absolute grief of the parents and relatives and friends of this unfortunate girl who's only action was minding her own business going to the school!!

Abosulely sickening in my view!!

I agree, about 3 weeks ago one of my best mates died next to me in a car accident which was related to fatigue. Hardest time in my life and dont think i will ever be the same. I am on my Ps and drive a VX senator, i wont stop driving it because i love it. My friend fell asleep and died at the wheel. I got away with 2 stitches.

I listen to talkback a bit and holy bunda the hoon factor is topical in Bris at the moment. Problem is that we V8 owners are all branded a danger on the road. We know that in the main this is not the truth but preceptions are real in the public eye.

Its a real shame that radicals such as our monster mauler that hit the kid today will give everyone a bad name. Only consolation is that I'm sure he will have plenty of time to mull over his actions during the 10 or so years in jail and wasting away his own youthful prime. Do the crime and pay the fine which in this case is just horriffic on an innocent kid and her family on all counts!!

This poor girl died in the early hours of this morning and it was a 19 year old women driving this car with 4 other people in it!

Police took five people - three adults and two 16-year-olds - into custody yesterday afternoon.

A 19-year-old woman from Bethania has been charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle, dangerous driving and dangerous driving causing grievous bodily harm by callous disregard.

Disgusting I say!

Few months ago a girl was hit in front of the school in Epping. I dont know whether she survived, dont know whether it was a hoon or a girl just ran across the road, but it is unbelievable, how many hoons drive past while kids are coming out of school. They make many U turns just to impress the girls in their hotted up cars. The school just happens to be across the road from my house.
But bikes are a big problem, any kind of an accident with a bike is almost fatal and they are very hard to spot. Take care everyone, not just this christmas holidays but always

Why do people do this - they must know they place life at risk - but make em selves feel like heroes inside when the fact is that most of the girls probably don't care unless one of these hoons is a boyfriend.

If they get done its a huge penalty and if they injure someone its even worse and they actuall throw their own life away, all for the sake of supposed pose value (wonder how many of these school girls with be at the offenders bedside when it turns to mud). Maybe things have changed, but in my early days i never had a chick absolutely fall in love with my sorst or speed prowess - it always had something to do with me personally to progress an actual relationship!!

As with Superman and Cryptonite - your car can in fact be your worst nightmare in the wrong circumstances!!!
