With the advent of so many turbos going into LS1/LS2's etc, has anyone included a boost controller with their setup? If so how has it been? Would the use of a controller make life easier on the rest of the components...like the transmission?

Any recommendations on a boost controller? (Not specifically aimed at Tuna but I'd love to hear an opinion if he reads this post:yup: or anyone else that wants to pipe up)

Go for a good quality electronic jap brand(HKS GREEDY) they have been producing these controllers for years.Electronic boost controllers are more stable therefoe reducing the risk of boost spike (over boost). Some even have built in timers. cheers.

I used a AVC-R Apexi unit when i was turbo'ed. Seemed to work well.

How did you have it set up Stu? Less boost in the first couple of gears, that type of thing?

Cheers mate.

I also have an AVC-R... and wish I'd gone for an e-boost 2.

Have a read here, They say most people stop playing with their expensive electronic Controller after a week,,

So is that True Voodo?:diddy:

An extract..If you are thinking of buying other types of boost controllers, to adjust them on the fly, or because you want to see lots of fancy options and displays, think again. If you set the boost level incorrectly (accidentally or otherwise) you could potentially damage, or worse still completely 'blow up' your engine. Once the boost controller is set at the correct boost level there is no need to change it again. Think about it, if you have already set the 'best boost level', why would you ever want to change it? Our experience and feedback from customers show that over 90% of people who buy a boost controller (including Electronic Boost Controllers), stop adjusting the boost level after the first week. Why then would you want to waste your money on a device because of fancy options or displays, when all you want is the best performance and reliability of your high performance machine.

From Taming a turbo thread (http://www.ls1.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=63942)

I have an AVC-R boost controller ... nice bit of gear, but guess what, I never use it. I just run my car on the default internal wastegate spring setting. 6.5-7.0psi. Its fantastic I've never been WOT in the car as there is no need. That being said, its not like you touch the throttle and its breaking traction all the way up to, and past the speed limit. Its hard to describe how linear the power delivery is. It doesn't surprise you, doesn't catch you out ... it just feels natural.

I'd probably use it if I was going to the drags

Nice thread re:Taming the turbo.
Seedy, forgive me for not going through all the threads,I've got some questions regarding your setup.
Did you keep the 2800 stally in after T1000 fitted?
Regardless,is it really worth fitting a stally in such an application or with the higher rwkw?
Also has your new "built" box been errrm, applied yet?:diddy:

I'm running an APEXI AVC-R. Have found it very useful as I run one setting on the street and another on the strip (so it gets touched every fortnight). Haven't bothered to setup the scrabble boost but appears a useful tool for overtaking etc.

I've been wanting to start a AVC-R boost controller thread in the technical section, to discuss setups with others .... but done it yet, as I havent played with mine, so couldnt contribute anything

I have the original eboost. I was wondering if its possible to run higher boost in higher gears? Or if you can add 2psi above 4000rpm etc?

Other than that i have three settings 7, 9, and 11psi and i use them everyday. Driving to work leave on 7, then maybe up it to 9 if i wanna put my foot down. Then use 11psi on weekends etc. I love it :bravo:

not on the eboost 1, you can only increase boost by presssing the buttons,

on the eboost 2 you can set the boost via RPM at 6 different points etc
