VE is aimed to be released around july/august (at this stage) so the Maloo would be 3 months after i assume..
Probably look similar to the clubbie and of similar spec..
Wll be interesting to see if they do more than one spec level, eg maloo and a maloo R8 or a maloo R8 and a Maloo GTS :yup: :bravo:

I am considering waiting, i was going to geta VE sedan, but i might wait for the VE Maloo, i have had the VY and VZ.
I waited a year for my VZ,ordered the very first one,so waiting a year is easy.
Buy what i have seen it does look so different, away from what the current shape is.
Will be interesting to say the least!!:) :) :)

Well the plan at this stage is to have the ute ready to start production around june, possibly july so it should be reeady to go on sale 4 weeks after than..
That said it it could be a couple of months earlier or a couple of months later than the dates i have quoted ,due to a huge number of factors, everything is subject to change this far out... once we get to around march next year things will be much more locked in place.

I wonder what the pricing will look like, hopefully they will drop alittle in price compared to the previous models, like the VE sedans did.
Looking at purchasing a new/near new ute mid next year, might get a VE if they look alright, otherwise it will be a VZ

We're currently in the market for a Maloo, but because my wife is motivating this purchase we might end up buying a VZ within the next 3 weeks.
That would mean in a few months they'll drop in value like crazy in prep for the new models? - that could possibly be released cheaper than the VZ's now?
Whaddya reckon...

If you could hang out for a few months I'm sure the VZ's will drop dramatically in price, just like the VZ Clubby's did.
Very good chance you'll be able to save $10,000+

Well when the thunders come out that means it close to EOL.
So I don't think you have long to wait.
If you can pickup a cheap VZ like from an auction or something. Otherwise I would wait for a VE. Why loose 10 grand just driving it off the lot?
Just put an order in, then the missus has no say. :)

Thats it exactly....I've been contemplating a Z Maloo over past few days when I noticed they're down around 50k now...So thinking another few months (or however long it takes to for the new ute to arrive) then I seriously look at a Z Maloo.

I've heard rumours (admittedly from Holden dealers/salesmen) that the VZ Maloo is no longer produced, so what's around is what's left...
Anyone heard anything like this before? - or is it just another sales pitch...:hmmm:
Also, has anyone any good guesses on what features it may have over the current model maloo? - ie. stability control, curtain airbags, electronic suspension, etc...

Commonsense would say that it would be exactly the same as it clubsport brother in terms of features, just has a tray on the back instead of a back seat.
I hope the new commodore ute has TC at least this time.

I heard from a HSV Dealer, that the back will be like the Ford's, a split section, not a molded one piece like the current utes, apparantly it cost too much to make???
I ordered my VZ Maloo 9 months in advance to get Build #1, I am thinking of doing the same with the new VE, wish there was someone who can tell us what it will look like, i guess she will have all the running gear same as the Clubbie?
When i ordered thye VZ, i didn't find out even what engine was going to be in it, 2 weeks out of the launch, so suspect HSV are not going to tell us anything sooner.
One thing is for sure it will sell like hotcakes, Interesting times.

I have just been watching the new HSV History DVD.........they have an extra section on the E Series where they show you around a GTS in HSV's design studio and in the back ground there is a covered up car or should I say Maloo.......not much detail but it shows the huge buttreses and flaired rear arches, it does looks quite short (distance from door handle to tail is easy to see)
Not a big scoop but some more info.................

the seperate tub is a good idea though - makes it easier for changing to a tray if you want
what was the reason the VY/Z tonner got the chop? sales?, quality problems? if it was sales then i doubt they would bother designing a tonner in VE then

i have heard this before - but how many people change their tray ,seriously? ??All the specs are different aswell , you cant just throw on a metal tray on your Xr8 and start lugging big loads around as the suspensions are all rated differently .Obviously it just simply makes production cheaper and easier for Ford but thats it. Doesnt look as good and the styleside pickup body is useless to boot.i.e tray is smaller than an equvilent commodore ute ,and anyone wanting big capacity tray still buys a hilux or similar anyway . To me the whole concept at a end user point of view is flawed, I 'd rather Ford do a smooth proper ute .

I enjoy seeing the chops like everyone else but they are just chops and may be nothing like the end product. No point getting excited over it or deciding on anything until you see what it actually looks like with your own eyes.

Yeah I did those a while ago and forgot to extend the tray and play around with the pillars.
The chops of the Maloo (which were in the Ute magazine) I will post up probably tomorrow with any luck. I'm just choosing a colour. Red maybe, but the white Maloo looks hot.

I am sure it is not the HRT Maloo...........the give away is the door handles which on all other Models are flush with the body and the VE is the only current car with handles that stick out.......
Also I have been told that the rear of the cab has large buttreses and they are clear in the photo.
If you draw a line up just after the door handles this will give you photoshop boys a clear idea about the proportions of the rear.......

That's definately a VE ute under that cover. The handles, body line and rear arch is so definate. I just cant belive they would make a movie with it just covered up in the background instead of filming elsewhere or moving it. Maybe they left it there as a teaser to see if anyone would pic up on it

I think a solid body side looks much better than a tub on the back of a cab chassis. IMO it just looks more "finished".
Poor Sales AFAIK led to the axing of the 1 tonner (cab chassis).

Either teaser or they want to see what the talented people on this forum can come up with.. They should just bring out an LS1Forum spec commodore where all of us here get a say on what it should have..

looking at the picture it looks like the extensions behind the cab run to just infront of the rear wheel not like the photoshop............
Another bit of info I heard was the rear deck lid would be in two sections.
On the rear lights I would suggest that HSV invested a lot of money in the LED technology and I am sure they would want to keep the rear looking like the other E Series cars........
How about a photoshop image with the LED lights, but turned through 90 deg to fit......

Hi all.
Just a quick comment on the VE ute chops.. I do believe that you are missing a rather large factor with the chop's, yes you exteneded the tray on the maloo version, but the ute is actually buillt on the LWB platform and not the standard platform which you have chopped, therefor even though you have may have the length about right (over 5m), the rear wheel placement is wrong.
Still, a good effort though!
cheers!

From what I've heard, both VE ute and wagon will sit on the sedan wheelbase.
Thanks for the feedback though.

Oh, that seems rather strange, though i guess the standard wheel base is longer then that of the standard VT series platform...
A big thing with the release of the VT series ute was Holden insisting it fit a Jet ski or Motobike in the tray area so i would have thought that with the VE series, the same sort of principal would be in use, i.e No shorter then the out going series and if like most cars (inc the VZ-->VE change) it will be longer anyway. but like i said the std wheelbase is longer then the VT series, so maybe they did decide just to stick with the std platform, and leave the LWB exclusive to the Statesman and caprice siblings.
Cheers!

Yeah it is considerably longer when you check out the specs. The good thing is that it will allow perfect weight allocation for the tray over the rear wheel.

Also, does anyone know when the build numbers would've been reset for the VZ Maloo?
Would it have been when the VZ was released (series 1?) or would it have been reset again when the Series 2s were unleashed?

scotty I was at our local holden dealer the other day asking about the VE utes dude there told me they will be released in september, malloo's a month later & the wagons come in feb, he also told me he thinks the tail lights wont be flush with the body they protrude out from the body surface. being a car salesman I dont trust him but that is what was said,
Not sure if this has been posted but here is the answer. Interesting what they may have in store for Melbourne next year being the anniversay!!
