Hey all,

I took the ute on the skidpan on Saturday, talk about fun. Only problem is now when I go around a left hand corner, theres a clunk which is coming from my front left strut. After alittle more driving, every bump I hit theres a clunk coming from below the passenger seat, and then theres a sound like a chain is dangling from the ute and hitting the ground.

I've spoken to suspension place and they said it sounds like my sway bar linkages have come undone, and that its a very common problem with the holdens. I jacked the car up last night and had a play underneath to see if anything was loose but couldn't find anything.

Has anybody else had this problem, or if it is the linkages how much it might be to fix?
I didn't hit any thing on the skidpan, just alot of sideways action and a few spin outs.

Thanks

Had a similar problem at the skidpan one time. It was the swaybar link pin bushes. Link pin runs vertically up from the sway bar end to behind the strut. If theres a problem its likely to be with the strut end of link pin. Take the wheel off for a better view, should be rubber above and below the strut mount point then a steel washer and nut on top.
If its just the rubber should be an easy fix.

You have most likely exploded the swaybar link pin bushes, a common problem for Commodores and inherently shit design from Holden.:teach:

Have a look behind the front struts and you should find a pin the bolts to the strut and also to the swaybar, feel around the top and you most likely find the bush is busted or missing altogether.

I'll have a better look tonight and if I can't sort it, then I'll take it too the shop.

The swaybar links are an easy fix, the complete pin and rubber was not very dear from Holden (cant remember exactly sorry).
Only fiddly bit is u have to raise the car up and down a bit to get the front sway bar to line up with the pins. An hour each side should get it done.
