Hi Guys

Just quickly wanna say that I did a search on the topic and couldnt find anything on it so I thought you guys may be able to help out.

I have found a resonably priced 2nd hand heavy duty red clutch for sale. It has done 12000 klms with a brand new friction plate and a used pressure plate. He is asking $350.

Now since I dont know anything about cars, I thought Id ask you guys for your advice. My current clutch is about to go anytime now, so Im wanting to get a new one asap.

If someone could answer the following questions, that would be greatly appreciated.

1. Is it worth me getting this clutch.
2. Will the new friction plate help or is it just something he put down to fool people like me. :P
3. Will I need to buy any additional things to have it installed?
4. How much would you guys charge to install it.

Thanks.

1. What brand is it. Your always going to get good and bad with 2nd hand stuff. Think why he is changing it after only 12000k's. Can those k's be verified? Why did it need a new friction plate already?
2. See above
3. a Braided line often helps but who knows what comes with the clutch so ... maybe you will.
4. Who are you directing the question to? "you guys" is over 30000 people on the forum. Best to see Sonny in Sydney and get him to check it out BEFORE you buy it. He wont BS you. Better still, just bite the bullet and get him to fit you a TEX clutch then all your clutch problems are gone for good.

Thanks for the advice Voodoo. I was basically directing the question at anyone who would be interested in helping i suppose.

Unfortunately I cant get my hands on it as its in brisbane, thats why i thought I would post here so someone could offer their opinion on the subject.

He says he is selling it cause he is upgrading to a brass button clutch so thats the reason. No way to verify the kms as far as i know and I think he mentioned something about buying it from direct clutch or something like that in brisbane. Doesnt provide a brand name.

If I could afford one of those from Sonny I would happily get it done but at this stage, its not an option. Also, i dont need anything spectacular as my car is fairly standard.

Thanks again for the advice.
