My VE SS Auto is due for its 3000 km free service. I have noticed quite a few people have had their front speaker, Left Rear Shock absorber and Engine mounts replaced during this service.
I have also read that Holden are aware of a possible problem with the engine mounts but will only replace them if the customer complains about it.
My question to all who have had any of these replaced is what symptoms did you describe to your dealer that led them to changing these parts.
Also, is there anything else I should be drawing there attention to?
Thanks in advance

And are these problems solely related to the SS or V8 powered cars or does it filter down to the sv6 and other various models.
Thanks

Not sure, only going off posts I have read on this forum. I would assume the front speaker would be the same and I have read of at least 2 leaking left rear shocks of which the SV6 I believe has the same ie FE2 suspension.

Tone, the Service Manager where I got my car said that the engine mount problem seemed more common in the V6's..? I got them to check mine as they reckon they have this machine that simulates bumps and can pick this sort of thing up.. He said mine were fine, the shock also replaced, but bugger me there is still a knocking noise when hitting a sharp bump.
Note there is also an A/C upgrade or update that should be done when you take it back. Make sure they do that. Can't remember the exact thing but check it out or ask.
Cheers

The a/c recall is No. 3 (drain hose replacement), No. 2 is the rear seat belt recall. Engine mounts are only if the customer complains. I have it and mine goes in next Friday (15/12). They will have to assess that it is in fact the engine mounts but from what I've been told it sounds like it.
If you get the knocking noise when hitting a sharp bump it could be the engine mounts. Make sure you try to get the Spare Parts Dept to have some in stock when your car goes in for the service so it can be fixed there and then. As I am in Perth they would have to order them in and would then have to bring the car back another time. They have a set in already for me just in case....
I've also got a vibration from the stereo/dash speaker over roughish roads which I'll get them to look at....

There is a fix for the stereo dash creak.

There is a fix for the stereo dash creak.
I found out how to fix that....
If you grab the bottom of the radio panel below the fan knobs and pull it back and forth you will hear that squeek thats so annoying you.
If you put your hand under the centre knob at the bottom of the control panel your will feel a little rod, on that rod there is a peice that slides back and forth, pull the sliding peice all the way towards you and walla squeek is gone.
Mines in for its 3000km service 2morrow, they tell me there is 3 recalls to be done, other than that I have no issues, other than its to quite ;)

Cars built now have a couple of strips of thin felt insulator applied to the problem area.

They also told me over the phone the engine mounts are V6 specific. Air Con fix is the drain tube. Apparently some are leaking into the cabin. Earlier build dates (mine is Sep) also had some problem with the fan switch or something like that. They will also do the rear seat belt fix whilst it is in.
Someone mentioned having the front speaker replaced which fixed radio problems but I can't find the post. Anyone remember this

Yep Tone, a/c problem is drain hose PLUS they will test the whole unit and replace it if it fails. Ours is going in next week, it would shut down on it's own and other occasional erratic stuff.

They are also V8 specific for July / August 06 builds up to a certain VIN No. in late August...
Mine falls in there. It goes in next Friday so time will tell what it is....

Mines an oct build and does this also. Not to the point where it never works, just shuts down for 10 sec then starts back up either very low or full blast, then goes back to its setting.

Service completed, results below and some comments on the dealership
Problem: Slight knock on bumps sounds like exhaust knocking on body.
Remedy: Underbody suspension tightened and wheels torqued to correct setting (they were not previously).
Result: No knocking sound now
Problem: Static in front speaker
Remedy: New speaker on order
Result: They will fit it when it arrives
Problem: Miss at idle
Remedy: Tighten inlet manifold
Result: Engine miss at idle now gone.
Problem: Flip key wearing on buttons
Remedy: Holden are releasing a ‘heavy duty’ key head early next year
Result: They will swap mine over when they come in
In addition to the above warranty items they also did the rear seat belt recall and the air conditioner drain tube realignment.
I also spoke to them about the air conditioner not working (only happened once). The fan kept blowing but it was not cold air conditioned air. Apparently Paul Morris driving school has also reported this problem. They have checked with Holden and apparently when you are totally up it this is designed into the program so as to allow every last bit of power to be available. There are obviously other parameters that make it happen as it does not do it all the time. Maybe you have to be up it continually for quite some time as it happens frequently down at Paul Morris Performance Driving School. :driving:
To sum up, I had the service done at Motorama Springwood (first time I have had a car done there) and gee they are good. Nothing was too much trouble for them. I was going to hang around waiting for the car but the courtesy bus driver said he would drop me back to my house and pick me up again around 1230.
Nothing to do with the service, but I am attending their new owner night tomorrow. It goes for about one and a half hours. They have a vehicle on the hoist and a mechanic gives a presentation and answers questions. They then deploy an air bag which they have set up on a bench then off for a few nibblies.
Think I might have finally come across one of the better dealerships in Brisbane. To date I have had no problems with them and they go out of their way to help. Even when I bought a set of number plate covers after I had taken delivery, I was talking to the salesman and the sales manager checked to see if everything was going OK. When I told him I just dropped in to buy the covers he grabbed them off me and got someone to fit them for me. No charge and was not expected. These small jestures go a long way to keeping customers in my opinion.

SS Floor mats on drivers side worn out after 3000km(not happy on this one)

:
Would the problem with the flip key be the door open button showing signs of permanent depression? Mine is - was wondering if others were experiening the same issue.
