Greetings ,
my sump plug is rooted so Ive bought another one, unfortunately its different from the one thats in there . My engine is a 2002 ( Im assuming VY series 1? ) but Im told by Holden special parts that the new one I have received ( part no 11518377) is from a VY SII and that they changed the basic design of the sump plug.
My buggered sump plug doesnt have a magnetic tip nor a rubber seal and its a 15mm socket . The new one has both but its a 13mm.
My question is: will it still fit? I dont reeally want to pull it out ( Im going to have to mangle it to get it off ) only to find its not the right one
thanks
John

My VY had 15mm with magnet and my VZ had 13mm no magnet, both had the same thread.

Take it down to somewhere like ultra tune - they will cold chisel the old one off and put a new one on - they carry spares as your not the first and wont be the last (I speak from experience!)

Yup - my efforts where post vice grips - totally mangled the plug (made of a very soft alloy).

Only cost about $20 - as I had the plug and the guy wasn't going to charge me so I figured cheap for half the price of a slab of beer

Doesn't anyone use ring spanners? Sump plugs aren't meant to be done up with rattle guns... :)

Too many people use el cheapo sockets and to rub it in dont hold them flat so they round the ass out of them
