I have had some SS Spotlights installed onto my VZ Ute in the front bumper. Though as i woke up one morning i had a flat battery, i later discovered that the spotlights don't seem to be wired correctly.
What happens is if i have my headlights on 'auto' with my Spotlights turned on. Whenever i lock my car the headlights will turn off for about 30 seconds and then my spotlights will come back automatically and this is why i have the flat battery.
Any ideas how i should resolve this issue.
Cheers,

Were they installed by an auto elec?
If so, it should be their problem to fix.
If not, hopefully someone can answer it for you.

They were installed by a Auto Elec but as soon as i got them installed i had to go away straight away for a few weeks and couldn't get it back quickly, though i would rather fix it myself if anyone knows the problem rather then taken back to the d**kheads that did it in the first place.
mine work fine but then again they are from the factory

The relay for the fogs should get power from a series circuit containing both the fog switch and power from the parkers circuit. The problem you have described I cant explain if they are coming back on after a certain time. But if they are wired up the way I have described they will work as advertised like factory.

A few years ago I added driving lights to my VY SV8 (which had already had fog lights added to the existing wiring behind the front bumper using the standard inbuilt fog lamp relay). I wanted the driving lights to automatically come on with high beam as I had previously wired up myself on close to a dozen cars but newer cars are now wired differently, so I took it to a local auto elec.
He played around for about half an hour with his tester but couldn't work out how to do it. I have contacts in Holden so I even managed to get a wiring diagram but he still couldn't work out how to do it, so I eventually had to go elsewhere. The original guy has since sold up - wonder why?? :lmao:
I gather the headlight wiring is now set up somehow "back to front" to how it used to be done (something to do with the way earthing is now done????). From all that I gather it would be possible for even a professional auto elec to get it wrong if he wasn't really experienced on modern cars.

but I thought the VZ wouldve had the wiring already done, it was a matter of "plug ands play" in that you plug in the fog lights x2, plug in the relay, and plug in the proper headlight/fog light combo switch and away you went, so I dont see why an auto elec would need to re-wire stuff?
I might be wrong though
