Hay mudguts a thought just dawned on me, I recken I'm the only person in Aus with a new VE Calais (just 2000k on her) that has "never" opened the bonnet at "any" stage to see what's under there. The way it performs, I assume its an 8 with headers, sorst, diff and edit. In hindsight, now thats turely :werd: I just want it to go the way I want it and quickly at that. I might have a look tomorrow and consider the covers options to apease my mates to look good/different - where's that dipstick on the L98 again:dancenana:

Why not turf the cover altogether and leave it at that, any heat trapped around the manifold is bad in the weather this time of year :yup:

You could always repaint it. I have seen one that was painted with some red crinkle paint and it looked much neater. Was thinking of doing that with mine.

When Sonny was doing the dyno run on mine yesterday he had to remove the turtle shell, nearly burnt his fingers off with the heat build-up under the shell.
Have since left it off till some split covers become available.

Good idea to leave it off... those things get hot, and I got a feeling this summer is going to be a scorcher!
Maybe in winter chuck it on for looks.
I would just leave it off though

I took mine off 2 weeks after buying my SS, might keep it and spray it up for when I go on club runs, either that or I'll just tie it to my back and go to the next costume party as a ninja turtle..

Any pics yet please? Or anyone else with suggestions? Can LS1 or other split covers be made to fit or too different?

I just modified the covers from the L98 which were OEM on the last of the VZ's

Gotta say I like the look of the covers on AussieTone's. Are they VZ L76 Covers? I see youve had to trim the left front cover to clear those two mongrel hoses...what else is required to make them fit properly::goodjob:
