I'm not sure I agree with this - to get involved in the V8's you need decent cash to run your operation - if you can't afford it don't play.
And the mention of the introducton of 'control' brakes, well, why don't they make it a series of exactly identical mechanicals with a slightly different bodyshape? Buy all the engines off one supplier, in fact why not all components have a dedicated supplier so that everything is identical and the playing field level...
Sorry, but i like the fact that some teams have an advantage over others at certain circuits due to component/design choice, the advantage which can be turned around at other circuits.
Ah well, next year will be interesting nonetheless.

Bring in control brakes?? What a joke!
They're similar enough as is, there must be some choices to be made, or it may as well be a one make series...

V8superNAScars
every component identical except the body and motor, motors are HP limited.
2007 year of the shrunken VE body to fit the old chassis.
be interesting to see how the VE chassis goes against the fords in production racing.

Perhaps they should just chuck em all on a dyno, then test the reaction times of the drivers on a computer program, work out a way of combining the 2 figures and get a winner from that........
That should be exciting.

Nah, in a sponsorship deal with the makers of Drag Tag, have all 36 V8's on dyno's in a horizontal line dicing for the championship in VR. :hide:
That way you can race anywhere in the world. Go on Tony Cochrane, I bet you could even pull this one off and sell it to the V8Supercar fanbase.

great idea.... HRT(spending bang on the cap cause their budget allows them to) has a start line accident at the second last championship round. Car 2 runs into car 1 and both are totalled.
HRT can't compete in the last round because the budget wont allow it.... Ford fans are ecstatic.. HSV team investigates whether they can 'loan' HRT a car at no cost to HRT... and then it gets worse...

This is stupid, almost like the salary cap in the Rugby League. The more they restrict the amount that they can spend the sooner V8 supercars is goin to turn into the V8 Matchbox car series because that's all they will be able to race! Give me a break, they need to be able to have money, and lets face it, none of the teams can be struggling that much because if they were they wouldn't be there!!

i think its a good idea, aslong as they dont go overboard with it. when you have HRT spending as much on one race meeting for the year, ie Bathurst as some of the smaller teams do for the entire year you are always going to have "ugly" racing with cars being lapped early etc. aslong as teams still have enough to play with whats the problem?

Salary Cap!!!
Bollocks!!!!
The limiting of expenditure is for one reason only - so the series owners can reap a greater dividend out of the TV rights and joe punter!.
Mediocrity and sanitised racing is well and truly here.
All incentives to create any race equipment and race craft advantage is wholly discouraged because of limited funds.

MikeJust more of the same rubbish that we as race fans will have to put up with, i am sure that they will have "plans" for the next few years to cut cost's but i doubt that the race fans will see any benifit from this.

V8 not so supercars... Honestly, all we need now is the "Control Driver"
I am over it! Bring back the glory days of race drivers, when engineers actually weren't just coaches...

Bullshit. Pity Ford don't have the nuts 2 build a decent 2 door, then we could use the monaro. Opps, we stopped making that.
