View Full Version : VZ Alloy Accelerator Pedal

I recently bought the Alloy Pedals for my VZ Ute, after awhile it took me a little work to get the Clutch and Brake on and the foot rest was easy enough.
Though i am having trouble with the Accelerator pedal. From what looks like at the back on the alloy pedal there needs to be a PIN and thats what all the other threads have said. Though when i look at my existing pedal the first thing i noticed was that the pedal is curved which the allow pedal is straight and can't seem to see a pin at all.
Have i purchased the correct Pedal or am i missing something. Help would greatly be appreciated, as i have 2 alloy pedals and 1 rubber, which does look pretty funny.

underneath the acc pdeal in the car is hard to see, remove the pedal assmbly from the car and change them over on the bench

As just said vertually the only way to do it is to remove the pedal assembly from the car. I just took it to holden and they charged me $15 to put it in whilst the car was in for service. For $15 i couldnt even be bothered attempting it myself!!

You have the right pedal but you'll need to buy a new accelerator arm to do the conversion properly as the original pedal arm is the wrong shape for the alloy pedal.
Parts you'll need are
92183444 Accelerator assembly
92174763 Accel pedal spring
92050573 Pedal pivot pin

Yep, the alloy acc pedal conversion is a right royal pain in the butt !!!
It took me ages to do mine. In hindsight I should have removed the whole assembly first.
The CAI 2nd hole mod was a far far easier mod to do!! :D

VZ's are DIFFERENT to pre VZ's!!!!!!
You have to buy the WHOLE accelerator arm and switch, as VZ use an electronic throttle. They are physically different on non alloy versions to the alloy pedal versions. Depending on engine, it will cost you around $130 from memory.

then again on pre VZ's its easier to remove the entire arm as well.
Ive done the alloy pedals now on 2x VZ's (which needed a new arm) and a few VT/VX/VY's and even on the VT VX VY I found it was easier to disconnect the throttle cable and unbolt the pedal assembly, its far easier to knock the pin out, put the new pedal and spring on then put the pin back in when its on a table!
I cant imagine how youd do it in the car, I say good on ya if you managed it :thumbsup:

Yes you will.
Just make sure that you confirm the part number of the arm and switch assembly is correct for your engine, as there are different ones for the different engines.

Oh yeah the part number I gave for the arm is the one I used for a V6 but its the only one I have come across.
