Some pics of my new SV6. Unfortunately, its missing 2 cylinders but am really happy with it. Has had tint, sports steering wheel, and gear selector changed. Had the pedders springs put in a few days ago 25mm. Looks alot nicer than before and in terms of driving the car, turn in is even better, body roll has reduced although you can feel the bumps a little more. Just had the thing polished this morning.
Wanting to get it to breath better by way of exhaust or some other mod so any people who know of any good exhaust places in Melbourne please let me know.
Does anyone know how to make the pics appear on the screen as opposed to having to click on the link? Ta

Place and the front of your link and at the end ... or use the little button that looks like a mountain in the post window, it brings up a window for you to put the link in and then puts the IMG bits there for you.
e.g.

I believe that the sv6,ss and ssv have the same size rear lights so yes you would be able to switch them. Thats the first thing i thought of when i bought the car but not sure whether it will look stupid having a sv6 with ssv lights but i agree the lights on the ssv looks awesome

Thanks Paxton. I agree 19 even 20 would like hot. My concern is going up in size might make the ride even harsher as with the new springs the ride has become a little harder.
I was offered a set of 4 clubsport r8 rims from the ve, 19 all round 245 at front and 275 at rear from around $3,800.
They looked really nice but i was imagining myself with one of the rims wrapped around my head when i was to tell the wife

Thanks. A few people have said it looks nice in the Nickel. How does it perform?...Well i test drove the ss and then the sv6 and frankly nothing compares to the v8. Its a different league, however having said that the alloytec is no slouch, it revs hard, changes smooth, and can really pick up and go when you need it to. For the ave Joe which includes me and for the driving i do the v6 is plenty. Ride and handling are great, point it into a corner and it just goes, very little if any steering wheel adjustment. Now that the car is lowered its ride has become a little harsher not alot just depends on which sort of bumps you hit. The handling is still great the body roll has reduced. Am interested in seeing the pedders shockers when released..AFAIK, they are in final testing.
Fuel going pretty well. Ave over 1800km is around 12 to 12.5ish per 100km depending on how heavy my shoe is.
Niggles.....just a few...
lumbar control knob falls out...no big deal, never use it..
Front drivers door use to squeak when opening, that seems to have stopped but the door creaks when closed and when i'm turning the car or going into drive way etc...
Have noticed twice the auto trannie when using active select and then going back to Drive that it tends to hold the gear i had during active...e.g. 2nd to third in active and then revert to drive, the gear stays in 3rd and wont drop down or back. i need to go back to active shift it to 4th or 5th, then back to drive and the car operates as per usual. Will have that looked at during 3000km service as well as getting all nuts and bolts double checked from getting car lowered.

Apart from the few minor things there it sounds like you've got a nice solid car there!! Thats good!
I agree with most ppl here, the silver (nickel?) looks good on the VE's, and as posted above the second last shot is brilliant, as is the third last!!

Top stuff  with all new model, I'm sure the dreaded drivers window rattle (when fully up)has stopped! that drove me insane on my VS, the Calais does it every now and then. Congrats! and happy motoring. One last thing with the pedders you got the sport ryder springs? 25mm drop is their first level of lowering correct?. Your car sits just perfect :) I am in complete and utter agreeance with cashie.

Thanks....the coils are sports ryder from pedders and are 25mm drop. Part number 2954 front and 2955 rear.
I think the car has settled a little also and may be a touch lower. I have found on a few larger speed humps that the bottom scraps must be near the exhaust but these humps are quite high. I just avoid the street now. I believe the struts and shockers for the VE are about a month away. I'd be interested in seeing what this does to the car as I think the firmer coils dont work as well with the standard shocks..but i'm not certain on that.

Well sorry to bring up an old post but didn't want to start a new one.
Have decided on new rims for my car. Was at Bob Jane today and will be getting GMAX Defiant 20 inch rims on the car with Maxxis MA-Z1 245/35/20 rubber on it. :woohoo:
I've finally decided on a rim after much searching and with a few let downs as some rims would not fit the VE.
Thanks to Holden Man for chopping a few different rims on my car which helped. However he didn't chop the Gmax rims as I hadn't given him a pic.
Car is already lowered so should hopefully look ok but anyone with feedback on ride with 20's and lowered on a VE feel free to pass on some advice.
Holden man or anyone who can photoshop it would be appreciated if a chop with these rims can be done just to get a better idea.

Well, got my new rims but went for the 19's instead. Got the SSV lights put in and removed the badging on the rear.
20's would have looked even better but am happy with the look, its not an
V8 :bawl:....but all in all I'm happy with the look and car.
Now just one more thing to decide. Given someone ran their key along my back spoiler I either have to get that re-sprayed or have it removed and go for the spoilerless look with a new boot but a panel beater said that its hard to match the nickel colour so would have to do the rear quarter panels also.
Any advise on how best to go about it.
Thanks
Eddie

You bought an SV6, get the **** over it!
Why would you changes the lights to those of an SSV, put on ugly arse rims, remove the spoiler, lower the ride height, remove the badges, etc.
Due to us living in the best country in the world you have the right to change your car however you want, and I fully support that right, however with me lviing in the same country as you, I have the right to point out how shit your car looks.

Its called choice, i had a choice and changed the look same way others on this forum choose to put 22inch rims, remove spoiler, but chevy badges etc etc.
At least it looks different from many others cars which is why many of us decide to change the look.

Heres a suggestion, take your anger to the boostcruising forums which are full of people like yourself.
Why should Eddy miss out on the better cosmetics that you get on the SSV just coz it was built as a 6 cylinder (that didnt have the different tail lights, 20 inch wheels etc standard).
I think it looks very tasteful, certainly a nice compination of colour/wheel choice :)

That is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard... In that case EVERYONE on these forums are dickheads for ruining the V8 "package" they purchased by modifying them in any way shape or form. The only thing EddieVE06 could do to his car that is distasteful is stick on HSV or V8 badges.
EddieVE06, you have done very tasteful mods to the exterior of your car. The roads would be a more visually appealing place if more people modded their cars as tastefully as yours :)

Well took my car to final inspection on Sunday for a Stage 1 detail which took around 4 to 5 hours. Paint work wasn't in bad condition but had not been detailed since i got it in December 06.
Can I just say that I saw Damian do his stuff and he is so passionate and precise that it drive me nuts. I couldn't handle doing what he does.
Anyway, I took some photos when I got home and I have to say that the car looks even better than the day I got it. It just sparkled and still does. We had two heavy showers tonight while I was out and the beads were so tiny, by the time I got home the car seemed dry and the beads we just streaming off the car. I cant describe how it feels to touch its like running your hand over a piece of fine crystal, its soooo smooth.
I can highly recommend Damians work.
Shep's car was also there getting the Royale polish and that looked very very nice also, as did the Ferrari getting detailed also.
P.S. My photo taking skills are pretty bland but the last pic shows how nice the detail came out.

Looks great Eddie! You're right - Damian's work is awesome and his attention to detail unsurpassed! What did he do? Clay Magic Blue and Zaino AIO (All In One) to be followed by a coat of Zaino CS (Clear Seal) next time you go in and then OCW every wash after that?
That's what he did with mine in August and even when it's dirty (well, as dirty as Nickel normally gets) you can still see the gleam underneath. Even when it's dirty (by my standards) I've had people (and even people who know their car stuff well) comment on how clean it looks (from anything more than about 2m away)! :)

No sure exactly what he used, he did say he clayed it twice, waxed the rims, headlights, etc. I had a scratch on the spolier which he got most of it out except the actualy indented part of the scratch.
He did say he used a new polish on it which he puts on a buffer but is applied at very low speed which is what i saw him doing, then he just buffs it off with a MF cloth and that is where it just creates the smooth polished surface.
I have to say I dropped the car off at 10am and when I got there, there were already 3 Mercs, 2 BMW.
When I went back at around 4pm, there were other cars like, Golf GTI's, Audi, BMW, Merc and a few VE's also.
Its comfort knowing that cars like that are being washed and detialed by final inspection, oh and as I mentioned the Ferrari being detailed also was just a site to behold.

My car rarely does long freeway stints, It gets one run per week on the Eastern Freeway but i drove up to phillip island for the v8 and economy on that run was just on 8lt/100km.
My average speed on the trip computer is anywhere from 35 to 40km with fuel usage of anywhere between 12 to 12.5lt/100km. Thats driving in morning and evening traffic and around the suburbs with the 1 freeway stint per week thrown in.

Hi
Am looking for some feedback or a favour as to whether anyone could possibly photoshop something for me.
I am looking to get rid of my SV6 and have found a Calais V8 Evoke colour that I am looking at. The guys at the dealer have said they are happy for me to swap my GMAX 19inch Rims onto the Calais but am not sure what it would look like or what people thoughts would be. I think they might look pretty good given the gun metal rims with chrome lip but not sure if its to harsh for a Calais.
Is there anyone who might be able to photoshop the rims below onto an evoke Calais. Anyone with a pic of one are they happy to share the pic for shop purposes.
Thanks
Eddie

Well effective this Saturday the SV6 will be no longer. I purchased an 07 VE Calais V8 in Evoke :). Am getting the lip and tinted windows put in this week. It has only done 5000km so am happy with that.
Will also be getting my GMAX defiant rims swapped across so hopefully they dont look to bad. I wont be lowering it as the ride is just to nice or my current sv6 with pedders was just to harsh. either way love the ride of the Calais.
Should the rims not look to good i at least have the option of selling them off and getting something that might look better. I think I'd have a better chance of selling the gmax rims as opposed to the plain VE Calais rims.
Have been hanging for a V8 again.
Plans:
Not lowering it.
Either keep the 19 inch rims or go up to a 20 inch.
Engine and Auto box tune
CAI
An exhaust or just rear mufflers but being auto am afraid of the drone factor and dont want to go to loud just something a little louder to keep with the Calais look. Any ideas?...i have a lot of reading to do.

Looks fantastic Eddie :goodjob:
As for mods go depends what your after ?? But if it was more power then you you would just go a SS.... So im guessing some power but still nice and quiet and good fuel economy ???
If so just go for a tune mayb a better air filter and quad tips on the back if your after that look? but i think single tips each side look good enough ;)

Would have helped if i went through the whole thread LOL i guess 1.37am will do that too ya.
Calai V8 very very nice Eddie... Deffinatly go for a tune straight up and unleash a bit more of the beast within. If your not going to lower it keep the 19's and mayb go a higher profile tyre 245/40/19 ??? Will fill in the guards more ;)
other then that enjoy ur new ride Eddie.... And evoke is great colour in the calai's :goodjob:

Thanks Guys. Am looking forward to it, hope the wheels look good on it.
Will post some pics.
I dont want to bag the SV6 or the alloytec, its a nice engine and does the job its meant to do but damn the v8 is so nice to drive, so easy and it makes the whole ve Sedan seem effortless to drive.
The tune will definately get the go. Would love a nice cat back or rear mufflers to just alter the sound a little without going overboard on noise and drone. I hope to find something for it.

Congrats mate.....get a proper catback for the Calais as just altering the rear resi's will create drone....which most people hate.
The Calais is a very nice ride....be sure to post some pics.

Well picked up the car tonight and am really happy with it. Very different from the sv6 as i said.
Had the old rims from the sv6 put on the calais. looks pretty good but car needs to be dropped. I'm a bit hesitant in lowering it again like i did the sv6 coz of the jittery ride. I will probably look at short body shocks with lovell springs as i've heard the lovells are not as harsh as kings or pedders. The car has done 5000km, is there a possibility it will still settle lower?. Engine still feels very tight also.
Anyone have the combination or can someone tell me whether the short body shocks provide a good ride similar to the fe2.
Need 2 get a tune, dont like the auto transmission very much, the 5 speed auto was more decisive in its changes, the A6 seems sloppy and slow but have been told a tune will fix this.
Exhaust wise, hard one to go with, stock exhaust sounds ok i suppose but a zorst maybe one step up would be nice, a bit freer and some more burble. might wait a bit for this to see what i can find, dont want drone as mentioned but can afford to spend thousands for a whole package.
Booked in on the 16th feb for a Damian Fin Inspection Stage1, it needs it a fair few swirls and buff marks...yuk. cant wait
Some pics below, i welcome honest comments and feedback on what you guys think, and ideas and thoughts on the tune, lowering etc.

Looks good mate.....it does need to be lowered though and yes apparently the lovells are more forgiving then the peddars abd kings.
Good luck with your future mods mate:goodjob:

thats tops Eddie - colour is nice and the condition inside looks brand new.
I miss mine - still two weeks to wait for the new one whilst I drive around in the automatic Barina sedan I got as a courtesy car for the deal. At least the AC is cold.
I wish my kid would stop telling everyone "thats my daddy's new car!" Things are much more simple when you are four I suppose.

Ok well bit the bullet and headed down to VCM this am for a Tune and VCM CAI. Umm fair to say that I am very very happy . Thanks to the guys at VCM they were professional and what they said they would do they did.
Basically car has no headers, std exhaust, std engine and is an auto as you will see from the Dyno sheet. Running PULP and the result was 242 rwkw.
I had the auto tuned as well and basically this is a different car from what I picked up on Friday. The auto in drive shifts with precision, no uncertainty and it knows what gear to select and when. Put it into sports and it is IMO an animal, the gear selection is hard, sharp and it revs and revs.
The CAI makes a difference in addition the induction roar is very very nice and quite audible both in and out of the car which gives it some balls when you put the foot down. Cant comment on the fuel efficiency as yet, might be a while before I can do that.:)
Thanks to David, Mario and Greg for clear, concise directions and a job well done.:goodjob:
All that is left is a full detail by Final Inspection on Monday.

Surely they'll let you start a new thread for a new car? Everyone does it
