In Vic Stage 3 water restrictions say something like

"Can clean Windows, lights and clean of anything corrosive"

Makes no mention at all of Number Plates.

Which fine is higher breaking the water restriction regs or driving with an obscured number plate?

So if i take my plates of put them under the bird bath and then put them back on the car what will Mr Plod do

Hmm next time i see one on the side of the road I will ask

Maybe if we all stoped & asked they would not have the time to do what they were sitting there to do!

Do you want to risk it?

Why not just obey the road rules and then you wont mind your number plates being seen... Thats prob the best option.

You wait until level 7 restrictions hit, and you aren't allowed to cry, sweat, or brush your teeth...

Fine for obscuring number plate in QLD is $240 and 3 points .... per plate!

I think you'd just apply some common sense here, do you need a sign that tells you to open a door before you try and walk through it?

I like it. I would certainly test it out. If I couldn't wash my car then I wouldn't be cleaning the numberplates. I wonder if it would stand up in court? If the facilities have been banned then there is no reason why you should get done.

I saw an obscured numberplate on a Police Paddy wagon the other day. Admittedly it had been raining, but I'm sure the rules still apply.

I did not realise there were so many Nana's on this forum :hide:

I was asking what I considered to be a serious question but possiby in a humerous way.

I have never had a fine for speeding which may be due to good luck as well as good management.

I challenge any of you to state that you have not exceded the speed limits in your car even unintentionaly.

Obscured number plates can be of more than one use not just revenue i mean road safety cameras they could work for toll roads as well.

My understanding is you can only use a bucket & sponge on your car for what I described above.

Anyway I seem to have created a discussion of interest.

Let it continue

The LAW requires unobscured number plates by ANY MEANS. It's ALWAYS been like that. If your point was to find out whether any neighbour would dob you in for washing the plates, I doubt it. If in doubt, wash them in the privacy of the garage! Maybe someone should complain to A Current Affair about not clarifying this!!!!
I fail to see the point of this thread.

When I was done for an obscured rear plate, it was simply because my bootlid was open by approx 15cm (lid held down with occy straps due to large item in boot). Since the numberplatye is attached to the bootlid the angle of the plate was changed.

I was told I was purposely obscuring my number plate from speed cameras ... even though both plate lights were fully lit, and I was doing about 10km/h UNDER the limit due to the load when the copper decided to pull me over.

If you took pride in your car as I do, you would wash your car regularly at a commercial car wash, costs only a few dollars, keeps you car looking good and you become a law abiding citizen....

And if you don't want to piss on them, just get some window cleaner and a rag.Cause this is proberbly what the cops would say to you also as he hands you the ticket for obscured number plates.
