so im gonna be booking my car into get serviced soon...
but i only want a normal service, and new injector seals.
im concerned because my dad got his car serviced and they replace all this stuff and it came to over a grand.
can i tell them to only do the normal stuff, and not worry about my brakes and all that for example. (rotors need replacing, will do it my self with dba's).
im young, never got the car serviced before, so any advice on wat to say to the mechanics would be appreciated.

Just tell them not to do anything that you haven't given them the OK to do.

Or better still, visit a forum sponsor, and they'll discuss everything with you. And you can trust them to take care of your pride and joy.

Mate just tell them exactly that! Tell them what you want done and what not to touch! Tell them to ring you to approve any additional work not agreed on at drop off.

Jarryd. Talk to any of the great sponsors in your area about servicing. It won't void any warranty issues(Holden). Why do you need injector seals replaced?

In the past I have written down a list of things that needed to be done to the car. Handed to the mechanic so he can see it plain as day and there isn't any verbal confusion, and no-one gets ripped off. If they try and charge you for things that they thought needed doing, but haven't sought your permission, then you have the right to refuse to pay. Don't fall for the old injector service/additive crap that some workshops push. I had a certain workshop try to sell me a $180 injector service and clean when my car was getting it's first oil/filter change!!!

Absolute crap. If in doubt, ask for them to be pojnted out to you so you can see for yourself.

I once knew a service advisor who boasted he'd sold an auto trans flush on a manual gearbox car, and did so knowing the owner was car-stupid & wouldn't know.

I am also looking for someone to service my car. Almost due for its 70k service. Currently leaning to APS but I've never dealt with them before.

Plenty have and they've been happy with the service given by APS. :yup:

All it takes is to look at the forum sponsors and see if any are reasonably close to you.

In SE Melbourne, we are literally spoilt for choice.

Cheers,

Macca

Well I don't really live in the area but I work in Dandenong near the Nissan corporate headquarters. So getting the car down there for a service would be relatively easy. I did send APS an email about a few things before Christmas but never got a response.

I'm thinking about some mods on the old dunnydoor and I'm kind of shopping around for someone to do them.

Amberley Autos (HP-F) are in Dandy. G & D are in Cranbourne.

Fuel injector flush on first service...hahaha what a pisser...should of turned it back on them and said if they need flushing so soon then there is obviously a problem in the tank or with the pump...best you replace either or both and then just lay back and imagine that warranty claim to the factory....lol

If you were buying a supercharger or some major mods, I see why it would be worth their while to PM you.

But since it's only a service, you'd better get to researching boy.

You think they're going to PM you over a pi$$y little service when they're flat out doing edits and fitting serious go-gear? :lmao:

That said, when you do get off your ar$e and book it in they will do a good job!

I'm with Wonky on this one there JMK. These blokes are good - and that is the reason they are all FLAT OUT. They don't exactly NEED your business, but if they do work for you, then you can be assured that it will be quality work.

Why not try to do what everyone else does and ring them for a yarn, or call in one day to see them.

Also, sort of off topic - 12,000k's b/w services in metro driving isn't too flash, I'd be getting booked in sooner rather than later.

Cheers.

not sure if this is a sarcastic question or not,but personally I wouldn't let them anywhere near my car and don't ask why because I don't want to get accused of slander

JT - to be slanderous, it must be untrue. I'm fairly certain that anything you'd say about a certain mob would be 100% accurate and proven.

In the end if you take it to any of the sponsers they will do a good job and not rip you off. You are spoiled for choice in Melbourne, but you better get it done ASAP, you havent had the car serviced in awhile and the super 6s need to be serviced on a regular basis, and I should know.

Just go and get your car serviced stop mumbling on about crap, your car needs a service it should get it done every 5000ks. GET IT DONE ASAP :sux:

Hand book quotes 10,000km for service intervals in a VX :stick: :lmao:
Although I give the SS an oil change every 5,000km's, handbook service is done every 10,000. But I have never heard of oil problems in the holden 6 so I am sure JMK will be fine until he gets around to servicing it

But on a serious note, cars run better & last longer with regular servicing.

Because I used to drive a Super6 VX that wasnt serviced for ages before I bought it and the car ran like a dog and could have cost me a packet if something went wrong.

Just take the advice, and book the car in.
