Hi Everyone
I need some help with my VS Commodore Acclaim. Everynow and then it seems to surge and nearly stall when taking off. I have noticed when it happens, the "ABS OFF" light goes on & off a few times. It happened to me about 6 times on a 40km trip, but when i went home 10 mins later, it didnt happen once. On christmas eve i started it up, it started to surge and my headlights flared for a sec then normal, abs off light came up, went off when i turned my headlights off. Turned headlights back on, abs light came back on and stayed on....weird. I turned off the ignition, then tried again but got absolutely nothing at all. no lights, dash or interior, no cranking no nothing. Tried again, speedo alert light struggled to light then went out. strange noise after keys were removed. How do i reset cpu? Could it be ABS Module as I have read online, does a faulty module cause it to have no power at all like the battery is diconnected? I search LS1.com.au for ecu reset, couldnt find it. Dude from holdens said it sounds like ABS Module, they have already charged me for looking for the problem but couldnt find anything. I have since started my car and moved it out the drive and back in to get the other car out. Seems ok, little rough though :werd:

Thanks

Could be an earthing problem? Check that the engine is earthed properly, as well as both battery terminals, make sure they are clean and tight. Make sure that the lead going off the negative battery terminal is bolted properly to the bodywork, just near the battery.

Also check your spark plugs, check your leads, make sure they don't have any ridiculously high resistance readings. Also check out the ABS fusible link, make sure that is in good condition.

Try getting the error codes out of the ECU, by bridging pins 5 & 6 on the diagnosis connector under the steering wheel, then turn the ignition to on, and keep your eye on the ECU Powertrain light, it will blink a certain number of times which correspond to certain faults in the ECU. If you need any more info, just ask.

thanks for your reply bud, i have checked the fault codes as did holdens and we both found none, code 12 all the time. I will check all the earths mentioned tomorrow after work

battery voltage 12.26v....idle voltage 14.35v

No worries with the reply, thats what we are all here for.

Yeah those voltages are spot on.

One thing I forgot to mention, check the back of the alternator, remove the rubber cover thing, and see if the B+ wire is properly attached to the nut on the back of the alternator. They have a nasty habit of burning through, and the wire becomes disconnected, or makes a poor connection.
