Do it at home

Hey all

ide just like to show some pics that proves the novice can detail there car at home. And its a whole lot of fun at the same time.

I wanted a BA XR8 hump (something different to the GTO bonnet) on the bonnet of my VX SS. So i ordered a fibreglass mold and started attaching it myself.
A hole was cut to shape, but keeping the support struts to remain legal. The mold was attached to the struts and the gap was filled with bog.

Im still yet to get around to painting it, as chirsty period slowed it down a bit.

The pictures where taking about 60% complete, and looks kind of messy cause the sanding was not completed.

Also, i was bored with the dull looking LS1 engine, so i attempted to detail it myself. Which was also alot of fun. Now i know that the colour scheme isnt everybodys cup of tea, but i got a soft spot for reds and blues.

believe it or not but the relocation of the PCM to the passengers side foot well was probably the hardest thing so far lol

im not too sure about a ford bulge on a holden (have seen it before and looks kinda tough though) But the underbonnet stuff looks great.

At least he knew what the bulge was gunna look like prior to starting the job, it looks exactly the same as the one he photoshopped a while back.

Now that part of of the project is done, all you gotta do is whack that T1000 kit in to make the dream a reality.

yeah i got one.

it has since been 'cleaned' and the cut outs (to get to the fiberglassing) have been welded back in. And the soundproofing sheet has been refitted, as to hide the not so attractive side

i liked the look of the LX SLRs, the bonnet bulge made it look 'tuff'
but trying to do something similar on a late model car is hard. appart from the GTO bonnet, theres not that much else out there. So i chose to do this

there are even videos of "his car" in many street drags and also a clip of him accelerating but the sound of a v8 turbo pasted over the clip cause he had a "twin turbo" photochop special. :lmao:
