Hi guys,
After searching through the many threads on this topic of which is the best king springs part numbers to use i've come to an end!
I currently have a vt2 r8 running king 'lows'
front khfl-48 and rear khrl-45.
Rang kings they told me khfl-47hd front would lower the car 10mm however other members have said that these numbers hardly did anything and used khfl-47 which kings told me is about 15mm lower.
As for the rear kings said that khrl-46hd would be waste of time as this would only lower the car 5mm. They recommended to use khrl-46slhd which is about a 15mm drop.
They DONT recommend the use of khfl-47sl front and khrl-46sl rear, as been unroadworthy(too low)
Talk about it who thought it would be this confusing to order springs at the height you want, for i dont want have to do it a third time.
I'm leaning towards khfl-47 front and khrl-46slhd rear??Does anyone use this combo and does the car sit to low at the back for the front? or does it even the car out nicely? After calling kings twice i ended up with conflicting stories.
Thank guys any help would be greatly appreciated i'll stop whoffling on now.

Thx for posting the pics up GMMAD that sits very nice!
So your using khfl-47sl front and same rears khrl-47sl.
Are you running on 18" rubber or 19" rubber?
Guess your car is in safe hands of an evening with that HUGE hound nearby, thx again.

Looks great but I'm guessing it wouldn't be legal??? It looks to me like you'd be lucky to have 100mm clearance under the sills even empty, let alone with 4 people in it as apparently required by law.

I was aware of the 100mm clearance, but i didnt know that height had to be maintained under a full load. Like i said car sits well but the last thing i want is a defect notice.Car sits so much tougher though!
May have to consider going 20's to fill the gaurds, then you have the problem of finding a tyre with a correct load rating. I think the oe19" hsv have a load rating of 95, not sure though, would a load rating of 93 still be legal?

Using KHFL-47SL up front and,
KHRL-46 in the back
This equates to 330mm wheel centre to guard FRONT and 320mm REAR which overall = 95mm off the deck.

Thats nice indeed, i definetly have bring mine down 20mm rear but not too much at the front, even with lows the front bar is in the way at times.
Yesterday was told by kings over the phone that khrl-46hd would lower the rear 5mm they recommended khrl-46slhd.Recieved email from kings this morning told me that khrl-46hd would lower the car 20mm, go figure!

I've never been too reliant on what ppl say about car springs. They all give different answers to the same question.
When I had mine lowered, I didn't worry about spring part numbers, I just told the suspension shop guy that I wanted my car to "sit" on the top of the tyres.
The front was perfect but I wasn't happy with the rear setup, he originally used KHRL-45, and the car sat too high at the rear, sorta like the early model Torana's.
I took it back and he swapped em for something lower, but I still wasn't happy.
On my 3rd visit he finally got it right.
But rear springs are an absolute breeze to remove, so didn't take more than 15 mins each visit.
The only other concern is that after a couple of months you'll notice that "settling" will occur and another 2 or 3mm drop will happen. Just need to factor that in.

Pic was fine, that also sits beautifully looks like the combo
khfl-47sl and khrl-46sl its quite popular. I see tron has the same combo and sits at 95mm of the deck. Are you sitting at that height or a little higher running on the 19"?

Is it just me, or do 99% of people get sick of the bad ass ride quality after 12 months of having a dumped car...
I would suggest spending a little (or alot) more and getting some Bilstens and springs to increase the ride quality and handling while maintaining a softish ride quality, that way the missus wont go need a sports bra to go to the local shops

I have the khrl-45 in the rears now and yes it needs to come down apparently the khrl-46slhd will sit at the same height as the khrl-46sl just a firmer spring. However i cant really go lower than 10mm front and i think the 47sl will be lower than this. Pretty much got the rear spring figured out but the front is a worry. The for the front are:
khfl-47hd
khfl-47
khfl-47sl
Im led to beleive that this is the order of higest to lowest.

LOL.. the missius wont drive my car so no worry there, however i was going to put in koni reds at the same time.

Yeah look, the ride of the car is somewhat harsher after it has been lowered, but it also handles much better and I certainly don't mind that.
The harsher ride doesn't bother me in the slightest.
BTW, I used to ride a chopped Harley WLA with NO rear suspension at all !!!
Now THAT was a damn harsh ride!!!!!! :errr:

ride comfort is the same as the standard FE2 except when going over really ruff roads car is much better now with 46sl's and koni shocks allot smoother then the 46hd's

When I went back the 2nd time, they were immediately swapped and I was gone within minutes. Never got an invoice because I wasn't charged.
No invoice = no part number, so sorry I can't help here.
It was roughly 6 months before I went back for the 3rd and final time.
I umm'd and arrh'd for ages, and in the end thought Nah... they're still not right, still not happy.

Got the Kings fitted at Midas that used to be on Richmond Rd at Blacktown.
The place was run by a chap who owned an A9X. Was good to have a fellow Holden enthusiast work on my car. :D

noticed any difference in height between the left/right sides??
hsvcsv
13-01-2007, 04:30 PM
Looking at the car its hard to see any difference, after measuring up the difference was only 2mm. Before i noticed more of a difference most diffenently drivers side was like 4-5mm higher, however i wasnt using HDsprings and was told my previous softer springs would have far more chance sagging to different heights.

looks nice ,sits good now did u only get springs or shocks as well do u have bad axle tramp now when i put mine in axle tramp was shocking is better now with koni's in the rear

New shocks are going in next week (koni yellows).I had axle tramp earlier on when my power output wasnt so great but now with 447rwhp it hasnt been any longer a problem. The shocks should reduce some body roll, well thats what i'm hoping for anyway. How did you find the body roll with your shocks(konis)?
