Liking the lower lip extension Smithy! That will sell very well I reckon.
Front Coupe 60 bar also looks good CommyVT. You will have to update your SC thread as I still cant access your website - never got confirmation back.

Picked up a brand new Holden VE wagon mounled liner yesterday; Holden now have them again; retail fitted is $170; needless to say installation is not rocket science; and got mine for about $120.
You can cut out prefabricated "bits" to have luggage tie downs pop through; as well as allowance for cargo barrier; so they've put some thought into it.
I finally got my trunk liner. How did you get your cargo barrier to fit with it in, without totally chopping it all to pieces? I cant get my cargo barrier in with the liner in place because the lip is right where the base of the cargo barrier should sit.

Had to cut an allowance for the cargo barrier as per instructions that came with it; did you get the instructions ?

Well my EFiLive has now appeared, so next weekend will be:
Get the massive desk out of the front room
Get the little desk back up there
Reinstall the wireless router and hub
Redo the security on it (is MAC addresses best?)
Install EFILive on the home laptop
Take cover off the Sportswagon
Back it out side
Ring Steve
Plug in the EFILive
Go to town
Reprogram and tweak
GO TO TOWN!
....or something like that....

Hmmm, I'm thinking he has just bought EFI Live, is going to hook it up to the SS-V, get some external assistance from Steve (prob Oztrack) and extract some extra ponies from the car. "Go to town" on the tuning, "GO TO TOWN" a bit faster than before.....something like that anyway. Just a guess.

Well you did say it has been a while since anyone posted. Rather than just saying "well the EFiLive has arrived for my Sportwagon, so hopefully the A6 can be changed a bit" I decided (maybe against my better judgement) to detail the lovely steps required to get the EFiLive woring for a remote tune with Steve.
And if this one doesn't confuse you, then I need to get back and redo that 'Unpractical Engineering Descriptions' course!

I know last time I drove down at New Years, the wagon did about 11l/100km going normal and about 10 going easy.
This time, with the OTR and tune I will be interested on the results. Should pull better up the (few) hills and show some certain improvements on the flat and for passing.

Has anyone looked into getting the reversing camera fitted to a 2008 Calais-V?
In March I investigated it for my SS-V MY09 wagon (built Oct 08).
I visited 2 dealers, both of whom said that tne parts are not available and they would not do it anyway. They doubted that the wiring was fitted, and it was all too hard. Their solution was 'go after-market'.
Surely the parts must become available at some point though.
When I can I intend visiting Prestige in Burwood (Vic). I am sure that they will know more.

With service like that, its no wonder that people end up buying bland Toyotas.
My wife has a Toyota & the dealer's service dept is so much more capable & competent than my Holden dealer its a joke.
GMH are their own worst enemy in this regard.
I will probably go aftermarket for a reversing camera because it will likely be cheaper. I might also get an Alpine (or similar) setup with sat-nav etc.

Someone was asking about the moulded liners for the boot. They're back in stick, I got one last week with the new car.
I've searching around the forums here for an answer to the roof mounted dvd 'issue'. Anyone been able to find a suitable alternative to the OEM unit? One that fits nicely into the moulded roof lining?

Has anyone been getting a slight grinding noise when pushing the brake pedal firmly. My Sportswagon has only done 9,500 km (mostly city km's), but I would be surprised if the discs are worn at this stage.....
However, wifey drives it most of the time and she is very hard on consumption (everaging around 16-17 km per hundred km's for a V6 in the suburbs!!) and I am continually having to clean the front rims - they are continually black from the brakes.
Any advice???

I'm getting that sort of figure in my V8 in heavy traffic!
Done 8500 km, no grinding noises.
Get the brakes checked.
If there's no problem, ask wifey if she wants to drive smoothly and responsibly or be a star in a reasonably priced car. e.g. Nissan Tiida.;)

IMHO, If you pedal the Alloytec Hard - you'll get similar consumption to the 8 driven modestly.
Really drive the 8 hard...........then you will see scary figures.

I had a Alloytec V8 Equipe for 3.5 years, and 85K.
Never got 11 km around town in traffic. The average over 52K from town/city driving was 13.1 l/100km.
However, on the drive to Melbourne, best averaged was 9l/100 on the V6 and 10.1 on the V8.

wow...you'd have to be doing some serious highway for you to get 700km from a tank. Most of my kays are Geelong-Melbourne commute every day and I average under 600km a tank, I've stretched it to 650km once or twice. I do drive around alot on the weekends and give it a squirt... so I suppose if you do VERY little city driving and dont EVER get too heavy with the pedal, I could believe a 700.
I dont think your really getting 11-12l/100 city though mate... even when I'm being good i get atleast 15l/100.. are you sure your not just reading the average getting stepped up from all your city driving?

Hi Guys,
Has anybody added an aftermarket exhaust system to a VE SSV Wagon yet?
I have been looking around at different systems, spoke to two exhaust shops, but I am yet to be convinced on a system that will not have any drone what so ever. Both tell me the wagon is different configuration to the sedan.
I want that true V8 sound thumping from the rear, but have not yet made the jump because I can not find an exhaust shop that can provide the sound without the drone on the wagon.
Let me know if you have found one...

Both; it is a glossy tinted cover that in my opinion looks better than the standard dull black item and to quote Holden:-
"The dust deflector minimises dust build up on the rear tailgate glass by deflecting air across the surface of the glass. Also useful on wet roads by minimising water spray build up."
It rained here yesterday in Perth; and I did notice a reduction in spray on the rear window from driving along (peak hour no more than 60km/h) so when on the highway the difference would be considerable.
But for me it was more the looks !!!

Let us know how it goes. i.e The remote tune. I don't live close to sydney either and mine is tuned by Steve. Next time I am considering the remote tune to save a trip.
Well, with all done (stage 1 anyway), the wagon pull's one hell of a lot better, and the shifts are short, crisp and smart. No more hunting on the 5-4-3-2 when going around corners. On the 1800 km back from Melbourne, going on the speed limit as indicated, it returned 10.3l/100km. Was 10.9 going down the middle to get there.
When down there, I also did my mates CV-8Z and he is now rapped. After doing 65K's in it, and being totally pissed off by the delay in the electronic throttle, doing a bit of a mail-order tune from Steve, and removing most of the delay has got him loving his girl again. Reasons that it has a hell of a lot more stoke down low and mid-range, and you can actually blip the throttle for smooth down-shifts.
I shall let you know after QBW as planning a plonkfest trip to Melbourne.

Certainly much better on cruise. Less likely to slow (rev wise) going up small rises so torque must be up a little. Might have to look at openning up the breathing with some extractors and next pipe system, and see what happens.

I think your wag must have been made on a Holden bonus day. Everything was put together right. Would love to see what it is actually making power/torque wise, as it must be pretty good in the torque stakes. Maybe your's is doing figures at 2000rpm that mine does at 2500? hence you can get 'more for less'.
I did see almost 800 km for a tank that was filled rioght up to the very top, on one stage between Seymour and (somewhere near) Menangle. That was 109 indicated and I think I used the brakes 4 times. Very gentle driving indeed and the engine had 1 little surge when I was driving up to the bowser.

I noticed a change in exhausts on the SS - probably a cost cutting measure. Earlier SS's had two outlets from the actual muffler, where as my SS Sportwagon has single outlet from the muffler that splits to two tailpipes :(
I believe this has always been the case ie the wagon has the 'fakes'? I remember seeing them in a dealer nearly a year ago. More cost cutting I imagine.

Last update was April 09; this was to do with Omega receving insturment cluster update (lights up blue rather than green - better vision); prior to that was Jan 09 with AFM obviously and prior to that was Nov 09 with 5 star crash rating on Omega only. There are always constant updates; just that most are fairly minor; however in fleet (I'm in Govt fleet) we like to monitor them and try to ensure we have the latest update when ordering to ensure both highest safest spec possible as well as endaevouring to maximse resale at time of disposal

Not sure why the difference, ours seems to be an early one, supposedly July08 build.

I have an early Calais-V.
If you look back in this thread to when we all started to get our cars, this two into one thing on the tips was put down to cost cutting, the rest of the pipe is the same.

Sounds like this dealer was flat out lying. I was told only last Friday by Holden @ Parramatta that $7k discounts for utes and $4K discounts for wagons currently apply.

Isnt the RRP (drive away) of an SSV Manual Wagon like $61K anyway?
So $53K is a pretty good price.
Isnt the RRP (drive away) of an SSV Manual Wagon like $61K anyway?
So $53K is a pretty good price.
Correct - the retail price of the SSV Wagon actually went up $3k in July - this didn't seem to be well publicised!. Current retail price is $57290 for a manual SSV Wagon, + options (metallic paint = $500 and so on) + delivery + on-roads. So a car with no options would typically be about $60k+ on-road if you paid full retail price. SS is $49,290 + options/on-roads etc. Sedan prices also went up, but by only $2k, so the difference between wagon and sedan is now $2k instead of only $1k.
I take delivery this week on a new built to order SSV MY9.5 M6 Sportwagon, Karma (metallic), factory DVD, tow bar, tinted windows, SS Mats, + full size spare: $53k drive-away. That was by far the best deal I could get after shopping around several Sydney dealers at the end of June/early July as a regular retail customer; cash buyer, no trade-in. According to the order, based on the retail pricing + the options listed, that price provides a discount just under $10k off full retail.
I think the really sweet deals of late last year/early this year are done and dusted - those who bought then, well done! You gained advantage from the GFC! :D I also think that as the Sportwagon models have gained in popularity dealers/Holden have seen the opportunity to keep the prices up and are taking it.....
Cheers,

wow...i have an SS wagon, i get about 11-12L/100km city driving, highway i get 9-10L/100km.
quite a few times now i've gotten just over 700kms from a tank
Your wagon has a 73 litre tank (like mine)...
To get over 700klms from a tank - lets say there is 3 litres left in your tank when you fill up - that means you have averaged 7 litres per 100klms over the entire tank... damn that's a long hill you are driving down. :jester:
Seriously mate - that is no way near plausible. :soap:

KPWISHN, as a guide, Gibbons Holden here in Perth are advertising a new SSV M6 wagon for $52990 drive away (http://carpoint.com.au/used-car/HOLDEN/COMMODORE/Western%20Australia/csn7397121.aspx?State=WA), and usually we're a bit more expensive than the other side of the country. (Not sure where your shed is.)

I saw that... but why couldn't that just be a 300klm and a 400klm tank combined to show a 700klm total and then an empty tank?
(Hopefully I'm not asking another stupid question!!)

On highway driving my Calais V V8 Wagon easily gets 10litres/100km. That without even trying to drive conservatively.
It uses heaps less fuel than my old VY in both city and highway driving.:)

So are the SSV sportwagons all they are cracked up to be? I think they are the way to go over the Tourer R8 given their price. Other option could be something like a R36 Passat wagon. Any suggestions.

Mate I am loving my SSV Wagon. Thought I would miss the modded VYSS Ute, but this thing just keeps getting bettter... and everyone seems to be looking at my ride again!!
Just clicked over 1400klms on the clock, and it seems to have just "opened up" so much more. Like it had a restriction of some kind on it until the 1000klm mark? Anyway, whatever it is.... I luv it.

Does anyone know how many SS & SS-V wagons were actually produced?
So are the SSV sportwagons all they are cracked up to be? I think they are the way to go over the Tourer R8 given their price. Other option could be something like a R36 Passat wagon. Any suggestions.
I was considering the R36 Passat wagon - very nice ride! However I think the SSV has the same or better level of comfort, 95% interior features/quality and 100% of the style plus 100% of the performance (but with more low down torque), at a lower price (-$20k), = better value. So really depends what you want? Go and test drive both maybe and see how you think the value of each stacks up?
Re fuel economy - I just took my M6 SSV down to Thredbo and back from Sydney, fully loaded with gear, family etc, after taking delivery of it the week before last. 1120km's on the clock so far, just filled up and have measured 117L of fuel used at the bowser (incl 20L provided at delivery), with about 100 kms city and the rest country/freeway driving plus some mountains etc on the way to/from thredders. So that's an average of 10.5L/100km's so far, and that's on a brand new car still being run in. On the return trip it used noticeably less than on the way down, and at one stage after filling up and heading straight onto the freeway the trip computer showed 8.4L/100km's as the average consumption and a range to go of 850km's! :D

Just got back from a week in Sydney. On the way up from Melbourne, I sat on 110km (mostly cruise control) and averaged 9.6lt per 100km and on the way back (going into a southerly wind) averaged 10.5km per 100km.
I have a VE Berlina and with 4 people (including 2 children) and luggage etc, I was very surprised at the economy.

but yesterday i averaged 8.6 for 150 k's (that was till home not just on the highway)with the air con off
i have just clocked up 14,000k's and it definatly seems to be beter economy now

I have a VE Calais V8 wagon.
Had no trouble opening the engine oil filler cap.
Just turned it anti-clockwise and it opened.
With my old VY V8 the engine cover didn't fit very well and the oil filler cap was touching the cover so it was hard to open. Had to use a rag and multigrips sometimes to turn it.

Yeh I'm heading down to Margaret River during the school holidays so will be interesting to see what economy I will get as we have not done a country cruse since we owned it.
I know that my VY SS I got under 10 with a fully loaded car. I would hope that the A6 will help more than the A4 in the VY.
Will report my results when I get back.
