View Full Version : VE startup - Ding, Ding, Ding

Hi all
My VE startup systems check "chime" is driving me absolutely insane:cussing:
Does it actually do anything useful (other than annoy driver and passenger). Does anyone know if its connected to anything, if so, can it be disconnected easy enough - or is it inregal to the actual warning systems. The thing is is just so bloody loud, maybe holden should have a volume control on it LOL...
Didn't bother me when new but as time goes on as a daily drive in the city, its worse than having an annoying rattle IMHO....
Any thoughts and help appreciated.;)

Do a search, some guy pulled apart his dash and covered it with something to make it quiet. Im sure you can almost mute it completely with enough material.

If you put your seatbelt on first and then turn it on the Dings wont happen but i know what you mean

yeh it is annoying... You just have to get used to putting your seatbelt on before turning on the ignition. It's a pain in the arse if you have to get out of the car to shut the front gate or whatever...
Maybe it should be like the VZ, where it only starts to chime when your seatbelt is not on when you're going over 25kph?

Wow I know I was posting this for a reason. Geese that just a diferent way of mounting up for the ride. I just went and checked - no ding, ding, bloody ding.
Thanks you oh thank you oh wise ones - I am no mechanic but was about to put a hammer to it yesterday, I was absolutely sick of it..:love2:
Obviously, I do put my seatbelt on but normally start the motor first. Too easy once ya know!!:bounce: Worth getting out of bed today afterall...
The 25kph system makes more sense than the current VE setup

The salesperson should tell you this when you take delivery of the new car....

Hados I love it mate.. sorry "absolutely" no disrespect at all, but knowing the history of mine, that is just so funny. I paid for the car and the saleman was with us supposedly showing us the ins and outs of it - but in his own words he openly stated "I don't know much about these new cars, especially the Calais V but I'm sure if you read the manual you will get familliar with it".
Just my sense of humour uncontrallably kickin in
Man I was drivin pretty steady on the way home, and obviously still lerarning after 3 months. Have found the accelerator pedal, the firewall and equally the brake pedal, no probs there... LOL..
