Hi guys just wondering what your opinion is on the VZ monaro and VZ clubsport. Looking at buying one but not too sure which there both sooo good. Personally leaning towards the monaro i think. What do you think?

I would be into a VZ Monaro quicker than anything! Aslong as you don't mind the lack of rear doors then go the Monaro!!

If you do not have kids or travel with many people ever go the Monaro for sure ;)

Do you need boot space? go the clubbie.
If most of the time your carrying 1 passenger. go the Munro.
The clubbie does have 297kw 6L vs 260Kw 5.7L

That is the exact reason that I decided to get rid of our Monaro sick of having no boot space was a nightmare if we went to bunnings lol.

For looks and also good performance go the monaro...

For great performance and room go the clubby.

I would go the monaro personally. I could live with the slightly less performance levels for that sexy thing...

Or find a VZ GTO. Looks and great performance!

I would go the HSV Clubsport ..
In my opinion it looks better
Has the LS2
More practical with 4 doors

Not sure on what the difference between the 2 is on rims, brakes, suspension.

Tough choice .. HSV or Holden but I really like the Clubbie

Well, call me biased but I've had the Monaro since April 05....LOVE it!!!
Had a test drive of the VE SSV in November, really loved the drive and was tempted to buy one when the current lease runs out on the Monaro....but came to my senses and will extend the lease for another two years unless I get an offer too good to refuse!!

The Monaro is a real head turner, has a great note. Yes, the small boot is annoying, but I can get the golf clubs and buggy in it so that is the most important thing!

I am bias as well. I would get the Monaro.

But it comes down to your boot space if you need to use it most of the time, and if you need to get more that 1 passenger in and out all the time.

I created a bigger boot space in mine, a $2000 XF ute that I bash around.

I'd go with the clubbie without a shadow of a doubt.

And how did you decide this ? Respond better to mods ?

GO the Monaro IMHO, with HSV you are still paying for a badge

LS2 vs LS1 ... bolt ons on an LS2 yields much higher results than an LS1

Am i wrong??

Have to agree, apart from body styling the HSV has it all over the Holden. Now if was a GTO v Clubby that could be a different story.

More a word of caution.

Just a very broad statement when you say " much higher results ". The Clubby already has minor improvements already done. What other bolt on's are you suggesting ?

I would hate to be the one who has to deliver on telling someone they will get much higher results.

We have done a few changes on ls2's such as extractors / exhausts with no improved results. Throttle body and manifold are good.

Editing yeilds good results on both engines, is not a bolt on though.

Bolt on's on the LS1 will yeild good results. Many are already well know have been proven over and over again.

I have a feeling that the purchase price will be the deciding factor.

Thanks guys for the opinions. Some very valid points. The boot space is a major concern for me, not necessarily because i use it alot but the fact that i can't if i ever wanted to! But it looks soooo damn good!

Also the Clubbie is more expensive but the room and 297kw is nothing to sneeze at.

So hard to decide.

I think the last reply hit it on the head, whichever comes up first with the best price i will get. I'm sure i won't be dissapointed with whatever i get!!!

I was in a similar situation with buying a VX Clubby or VX Munro, and went with the Clubby in the end and don't regret my decision.

I personally think it looks better, and 4 door practicality is nice.

Go for the Monaro drive it for a couple of years and then get into a E Clubbie.

And on the subject of the boot space...I actually find it comes in handy. Heres an example:

Missus: "We have to pick up the relos from the airport."
Me: "Sorry the luggage won't fit in the boot." :p

Amen to that brother!

I learnt that lesson from owning a SS ute. Nice to drive, only problem is every bastard wants you to help them move house or pick up their new plasma TV!

Go the Monaro. For all the reasons not on paper, it's just so much more special.

I also remind them it is a 2 seater ( try too ) when I get asked if I can drop / pick up people :)

if you are tall then go the clubby, monaro has bad headroom

Not sure why this thread keeps going on, because it's just re-hashing exactly the same points as the other thread does, with the bonus of an LS1 vs LS2 dispute!

Yeah that's true.

Even us shortarses (171cm) clock their heads on the side pillars if you lean your head too close to the window when parking etc.

Visibility aint quite as good either...

Small prices to pay though.

yeah i took a VZ monaro for a drive the other day and it was a bit close for head room. I'm about 190cm so the seat had to go right to the bottom and that was it, lucky for me i'm not growing anymore!
