I'm looking for links to magazine testing and reviews of the VE Commodore with the 6.0 LS2 engine.
I'd also like to find some 1/4 miile results from some owners.
Thank you.
Hold up a second here mate. Your talking about two different things here. The VE COMMODORE, gets the 6.0L L98/L76. The HSV's get the Corvette LS2 6.0L. Which one are you after??

Whatever they bring to the states!
I'm a yank! :D
I'm waiting for the Pontiac G8 or whatever GM is going to call it.
Are you sure about the L98/L76?
I thought they were only on 6.2 engines?
I thought the Commodore V8's were all LS2's?
We have them in the USA as the 6.2 L98 Engine with the L76 intake as the stock engine for the Cadillac Escalade and GMC Yukon Denali trucks.

TT C6, here only HSV (Holden Special Vehicles) get the LS2. All Holdens now have the L98 6.0 litre.

Ok.
I think GM and Holden have different names for the same engines.
So,
while I am posting in here I will just call them by their displacement. (6.0, 7.0, etc)
I'm looking for info and internet links for testing done on 6.0 litre Commodores. (magazine tests, road tests, 1/4 mile, etc)
Thanks for the responses.

Note that the Calais V is mechanically identical to the SS, including suspension, but limited to auto only and a little heavier with all the bling.

But both holden and hsv engines are 6.0L yet the HSV is the LS2 and the Holden is the L98, In the previous model holden used the 6L L76 but with the VE they changed it to the L98

Thank you very much for the info.
The current Cadillac CTS-V is a sedan that runs the 6.0 V8 LSx engine with a 4000 pound curb weight.
These cars usually run about 13.0 at 110 mph in the 1/4 mile.
Here is a link to a road test of the Cadillac CTS-V by Motortrend.

I assumed the VE Commodore would have identical or better performance.
Can anyone explain the why the VE is running so much slower than the CTS-V?
I wan to buyus a Pontiac G8 when they get to the US,
but not if it's slower than what we already have.

The difference that stands out is the final drive ratio - our VEs are running 3.45 on the manual trannies and 2.92 on the autos vs the 3.73 for the manual CTS-v and 4.11 for the manual CTS-vR. Suspect that the G8 will get the 3.45 final ratio - the Aussie market has to deal with higher fuel prices (tax) and an overabundance of road safety nazis.
Not sure of the practice in the US for magazines testing 1/4 mile times - most of the locals here do it in road trim i.e. standard tyre pressures, half a tank of fuel - some with a passenger too.

Thanks for the info.
It makes a lot of sense.
The more aggressive final ratio in the CTS-V definitely helps,
but the MPH difference leads me to believe that Commodore must be up in weight oand down in power compared to the V.
I hope I'm wrong.
Most all road tests feature 1/4 mile results.
The 1/4 mile is the better than any dyno I know of.
They are usually done in full street trim but no passengers.
I want to check the final drive ratio of our version of the Holden Manaro, the Pontica GTO.
Be interestng to compare the final drives offered in both countries.
http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/coupe/112_0512_sport_coupes_comparison/specs_price.html
You were right!
Even the Monaro comes with a 3:46 final ration in the US.
So,
some of the CTS-V's performance edge is coming from it's 3:73 fina ratio.

Any other 1/4 mile times for the 6.0 litre Commodore VE's?
Is 13.9 @101mph the average for these cars at the dragstip?

Aussie car magazines have tested the manual and repeatedly ran 13.4's, and I think arouns 13.8 in the autos.

I just ran 13.5 @ 102mph 2.18 60ft. The car did a 2.01 60ft on the same day and 104mph, so there has to be a 13.3 and even less if that was onthe 104mph run... PS Track temp was 61C and air temp was 41C (farken HOT!)
