Hello,
After reading a few posts I was wondering if anyone has fitted one to their VE and how much roughly to fit and is there a sponsor in Perth i can take my SS V when i pick it up. If there was one downside to the test drive was the dodgy shift into third, I hadn't really driven a manual commodore with 6 speed before and almost hit fifth a couple of times until i got used to it. Salesman gave me BS about "box is still tight".
What are your thoughts?;)

Last time I heard they haven't released the VE Rip as of yet..
But WA Performance can fit it for you.
Give them a ring on 93880250

SLYLS1 has one in his VE SS and is testing it at the moment. Hopefully they won't be far away....

its not bs my 6 speed was tight for about 10000 m8 give it time and itll come around
I have never had a problem shifting to any gear , but I have driven trucks
my advice let the gate do its job dont force the stick and its like butter to change , if you push it all over the joint you have trouble.
Inexperience with a manual is no reason to spend money on a new car
especially when you have siad you are not used to manuals

Like Slugg said .. all new manuals are a bit tight but loosen up with some use. I drove a VE manual and didn't have a problem with it either. They are a bit different from driving a Hyundai or a Corrolla.
I also shift a road ranger all day so I get plenty of practice as well.
cheers

I had the same problem with my R8, 3 days old had a run off the lights with a evo, held my own until I missed third. but 1 week later done the job on a xr8 ute, was'nt as agressive into third with the ute, practice makes perfect I guess

It's funny that a hyundai gets a mention as my GF had a lantra and the shifter felt reasonably similar to the VE i test drove, Hyundai cost 19k and VE is nearly 60k.............
Anyway I'll give it a few weeks and see how ours goes, maybe it was just that demo that had a dodgy shift from all the thrashing its had from inexperienced drivers.;)
It just seems funny that if there is nothing wrong with the standard shifter why is an aftermarket shifter even available.
I work on a mine and have also driven Road Ranger boxes and believe me comparing that to a car is like comparing Fiat bambino to a F1.

Mine was very tight to start with, but after 5000kms its starting to loosen up a bit. I havent had a problem missing third.

Well I have driven manuals all my life, and Holdens to boot for the most part. The only shifter worth a damn in any car I've driven was in my Evo 8. In all my 6 speed manual Holdens I've had from new, only my VY SS had the only shifter I've had that was any good from Holden, and it still wasnt that good.

after market is a place to make money , and he wasnt comparing its just if you can select 15-20 speeds ok 6 is a breeze...its called practice

I've actually found the VE manual to shift ALOT better. Its got the 'spring loaded' action into 3rd now compared to my mates VZ SS plus the throw is shorter now also. It took a few days to get used to it (compared to my wrx) but now its a breeze. Most fun gearbox i've used in a while (compare to a mates 99 Type R integra...THE best feeling gearbox by far) and can handle hard changes easily.
Same with the clutch, wierd at 1st, easy as now as im used to it.
No offence to the auto brigade, but dont let it sway you away from the manual. Manuals are 'real' drivers cars
