Hello

I have a GEN III VY SS Crewman 2004 Auto, only done 26K kms, mint condition. Lately I have noticed every now & again when I am sitting idle and go to take off I get this knocking, vibrating coming from under the car. It only lasts a few seconds then goes.It feels like you are knocking the car out of gear while moving. The only mods to the car are lowered suspension but it will still do it on flat even ground. Has any one else had this and what was the cause. Thanks

Possibly the lowered hight of ur car is cuasing something to contact the body ? have you had a geese underneath the car ?

If you lower the crewman past a certain point, the tailshaft will start to contact the underneath of the car, especially the fuel tank due to the length of the car. I remember back to a street commodores issue with the sve crewman and how he noticed one day running out of fuel at an extremely fast rate. Looked under the car and was a trail of fuel going back for kilometeres. Id have it looked at asap. cheers:driving:

I was advised the same from an ex-Pedders employee. Not much clearance between tailshaft and tank. How low did you go? Not something you want coming together on a regular basis :teach:

Thanks, I didn't lower previous owner did, it is quite low compared to standard but not ridiculous ,plenty of clearance between the guards, but I will get under and check out.

Gday

the clunk you are experiencing may well be the the bottoming out of the rear suspension. I experienced this on my VZ ss crewman which has been lowered to an even static ride height. I pulled out the standard shocks to find that they were already 2/3 through their design travel therfor not allowing any dampening whatsover....I then fitted some pedders short travel shocks....the clunking has gone and the cars handling improved dramatically. Also the fuel tank issue has been reduced as the shocks are a massive improvement over the standard monroes
