Most people that have taken the OTR+Exhaust+Edit actually claim that the edit helped their fuel economy a little, if you can keep the right foot out of the firewall.
In regards to "PWR" mode, with the auto trans, as far as I can work out and im only commenting on what I learnt from my OL' VL's Jacto 4 speed, the PCM has a different shift pattern for pwr and econo mode. When pwr is engaged, the trans will hold gears longer, making full use of the engines rev range. In economy mode the trans changes gears with fuel economy in mind and wont venture too far up into the rev range.
The beauty of an edit, is that you can tweak your shift patterns to suit your driving.
I'm sure a local sponser in your area would be more than happy to discuss the full advantages of an edit and your listed mods. Plus they'd know a heap more than what I would!!!

vyss2ute has pretty much summed it up...
you can tune the econ mode to have soft gear changes and change shorter in the rev range and you can tune the pwr button to have firm changes and to venture higher in the rev range

Put it this way.
Economy Mode = Ned Flanders
Power = Otto.

Many years ago after our very own Motomk had his car edited he stopped referring to the PWR button and began calling it the DANGER button.

I have a maf mail order tune from Chipmaster that I have had for 7 months or so now and its fantastic. Economy mode its gentle with the gear changes just cruising around, put power one you can feel it holding the gears and changing. Put your foot down in Economy and it takes off nice and smooth put your foot down in power mode it will chirp changing into second gear and you can feel and hear the gears using all the rev range it can before changing.
Its fantastic and I highly recommend getting your shift points harden up in power mode so you can kick out in second gear. Just be carefull in the wet, when I have power mode on and give my car a little tap so when it changes into second no matter what it will kick out. With out power mode you will just take off straight.

Dane what did the MAF mail order tune consist of? is it simply a case of swapping out a chip?
cheers

Simple case of swapping your PCM with a tuned one or Chipmaster can upload it to your PCM.
Go and see him and he can do it all in under an hour (I think)

I sent Chipmasters $800, $400 for a new PCM that has been tuned and $400 for a deposit. Chipmaster will send you a pcm that has been tuned to you and you swap it over with your old one and send Chipmaster your old one and he will return your $400 deposit.
Took me 15 minutes to do and it was the best thing I have ever done to my car. However I made sure to tell Chipmaster I wanted hard shifts in power mode so it will kick out in second. I took it for a spin today and just before it kicks into second give the steering wheel a hard flick and the back end will kick out like crazy banging into second in POWER mode of course, I just worked out how to do it in the dry as my LSD is crap.

Thanks fella`s, much appreciated. I`ll definately look into it;)
I installed my Chipmasters mail order tune about 2 weeks ago. Best bang for buck mod you can do. Better power down low, smoother gear changes in normal and yep, kicks out going from 1st to 2nd. All good! Remove and install of PCM is simple - check out this thread:

Don't think, act!
It is an offence against the cosmic equilibrium not to have an LS1 edited, even if it has stock exhaust etc.:werd:

Quick question, if Holden need to do a computer reset due to an issue or software upgrade does that affect the tune thats been done?

I might be wrong, but I believe that the tuners use an operating system which can't be read or overwritten by Holden.

Does depend on the tuner I guess. Using a custom OS when doing a MAF tune isn't a necessity it makes commanding fuel a bit easier but its not a big drama. I don't bother on MAF cars. MAFLESS is highly recomended to use a custom OS, so you get back the high spark table capability.
