Holden Special Vehicles (HSV) has congratulated Holden and the VE Commodore range on winning the prestigious Wheels 2006 Car of the Year.
HSV Managing Director Phil Harding said critical to VE Commodore winning the number one accolade in Australian motoring, was the performance of HSV's two entries in the award - a Clubsport R8 and GTS.
“Wheels Editor Ged Bulmer acknowledged the 'award is to the entire family, from the modest $34,490 Omega to the muscular $74,990 HSV GTS'”, Phil Harding said.
“This is a great tribute to the enormous thought, design and engineering enhancements Holden Special Vehicles developed, costing many millions of dollars and turning a great car into Australia’s luxury and performance benchmark”.
Elsewhere Wheels describe the new E Series range as possessing 'raucous, upstart athleticism', while the GTS's Magnetic Ride Control was acknowledged as being 'brilliantly effective', providing 'unparalleled ride comfort'.
Phil Harding said the award provides an excellent springboard for HSV in 2007.
“We intend building on a stunning last quarter of 2006 which saw a record 1524 retail deliveries across Australia and NZ”, he said.
“The new E series is being endorsed by motoring critics and the public alike as the absolute ultimate Australian driving experience”.
