I don’t think that HDT were too happy with the base 4.2 VH SS that “didn’t see the inside of their workshop” so work backwards from there. Some of the 5.6 Strokers and the group 3’s would be “more Brock” I guess.

Is a VL Group A “plus pack” more Brock than a stock Group A? Well it had the polarizer but it also had his signature on it.

Some of the personal road cars would be “more Brock” and I’d personally rate the VH Monza coupe very highly.

VC & VK Group A for sure. Probably the SS Commodores above the 6's and Turbos and maybe even the Magnums (Statesmans).

Hard to go past the VL director, way ahead of its time and also being credited with the reason holden severed the relationship.

And very, very limited build....only 10 VL Aero/Director cars exist (happy to be corrected!). The Rarest of the rare is the HDT VL AERO BATHURST with only 2 ever built, one manual (T5G Walky box) and an auto.
I would reckon that the Director would have to take the cake for being the HDT car with the most soul, hell they even marketed it with the slogan "BODY BY HOLDEN - SOUL OF BROCK

What's the difference between a Brock HDT vehicle and a plain HDT? I would have thought any HDT vehicle built while Brock owned the company would be a Brock HDT?

VK Group A. It won Bathurst, Brock's favourite and the best of the HDT’s. If you can get one they will appreciate quite well into the future, they will become nearly desirable as a Phase III in the longer term.

Incorrect my friend. The VK group A, whilst probably being the "iconic" Brock car, & the vehicle which most people think of when they think Brock Commodores, was certainly not PB's favourite. In actual fact, he didn't really like the VK Group A, which was built to a set of homologation rules for Group A racing. Peter thought the car was too harsh. His favourite car, was the VL group 111 Signature Series.

He quoted the VK as his favorite when interviewed for TV. It may depend which source you quote.

Fair enough. I'd actually known PB for well over 30 years--he could be very "diplomatic" too when he wanted to be! Anyway, his favourite RACECAR was certainly a VK, & that was the "LAST OF THE BIG BANGERS", the last of the Group C cars, painted in the Marlboro colours incorporating the very bright "dayglo" red.
But back to your post--I'm going back to the many many discussions I've had with the "Great Man" over the years, & PB always thought the VL Group 111 Signature Series was his favourite, as this was the first car he had put together without any influence from Holden.
I might add, it's not my favourite, & I've owned several 'Brocks", a VK Group A, VL Group A Plus Pack, & a beautiful black VK Calais Director, & two of these cars were fitted with polarisers, which PB organised for me.
I think the VH group 111 is an excellent model, it is frequently referred to as the model "with the most of Brocky in it"-- That would of course be up until the demise of the Holden partnership.
Cheers, Pickles.

I have heard him mention on 2 occasions that the VL was his favourite road car and on another interview (I think at Goodwood) that the VK was his Favourite race car.
Like everyone I'm sure his favourites changed over the years.

Reflecting back on the interview the question was aimed at his favorite race car being the VK (I think). If it was purely which HDT for road use, then that’s another issue. It may well be the VL.

You have had some nice cars over the years. PB would have been an interesting character to talk to.

Yes, PB was "an interesting character"! He was so many things to so many people. And, those of you who have spoken to him would remember how he looked at you with those piercing dark eyes, & you just knew he was talking to YOU.
There was a lot more to Brock than cars. At some of the more recent times that I saw him, people would invariably ask him about his "Brock" commodores, or some other past event, but he wasn't really interested in those things. He would much rather talk about what he was going to be doing tomorrow, or at some other time in the future. And all this at 62 years of age--he wasn't even thinking of slowing down--he was enjoying every new challenge that his life had to offer-which makes his demise so sad.
Actually, I can still feel his presence. Peter was a very spiritual person, & that spirit has not, in my opinion, gone away.
I do not like to see "R.I.P." applied to PB--it's simply not appropriate--if you knew Peter, you'd know that he wouldn't be "resting in peace" anywhere--he'd be out there, somewhere, someplace, doing something, making the most of his time--in his own words-"having a red hot go!". So for me, the appropriate words are "THE SPIRIT LIVES ON"--simply because,--IT DOES.
Sorry for the rant.
Cheers, Pickles.

I think every brock commo had his heart and soul in it.The ss range was for the conservative and budget buyer, then the group A's & 3's were for the real petrol head, and the director's & aero's were for the buisness people who wanted some performance, and at the end of the day the bigger the cheque book the more options Brocky could fit.I love the man he was a true gentleman with a passion for performance. Anything up to build number 4246 is a brock, anything after that is simply a modified car
000 is the blue VC test car and 4246 was a black VH

Although you have to view the original build sheet from the year it was made, not a current copy as HDT have "upgraded" a few cars
