SSZ Ute

I have searched the topic and can't seem to find what I am after so here goes:

I have a VZ SSZ M6 ute with a 1600kg rated towbar and am considering buying a boat that weighs 1300 kg (with trailer). Whilst I have no doubt that the car will tow it fine, I am worried about the getting it off the boat ramp, especially the clutch.

Is there any one that has towed such a load with the M6 and how did it go? I am planning on getting a Textralia x grip clutch in the future but want to know if the standard clutch will get me out of trouble in the mean time. When a clutch does shit itself is it still driveable?

Thanks in advance...

Might need 3.9s in the diff to tow properly if you don't want to cook your clutch

Not sure if the hsv clutch is different but I towed a heavy boat back from Sydney to adelaide without any dramas.
Gettting on and off the boat ramps was ok too. hope that helps.

It will be fine. I watch plenty people pull boats out of the water with ss's, even v6 manual utes have no drama.

Just dont bag it up on the ramp - youll probably end up in the water HAHA

I towed my parents 1600kg boat with the SS for the first time about 3 weeks ago and it struggled to get it out of the water. The clutch was slipping and it only just pulled it out. I'm not going to tow it with the SS any more, they are geared too high, and my clutch is on the way out. Would be better with 3.9's and a tex.

With a newer clutch and a lighter boat you should get it out of the water a bit easier.
