Motorsport News magazine reckons so. Apparently it will be announced tomorrow at the launch of the HRT VE model. Could be a good chance for Seto to finally beat the mountain...

WTF, a Ford driver defecting to Holden ? :werd:
Makes a change these days....
If Seton does pair up with Skaife for bathurst, what will he be driving for the rest of the year?

I believe i read in Auto Action some time back that Seton was happy to just wait for the Enduro's to come along and plonk his backside in the car and drive..
Was not he a Stone Brothers hired gun for thier second car at Sandown and Bathurst?

Seton's not a bad bloke, but he's not as quick as he was, so if he's in Skaife's car, it's going to cost that car valuable time-can't see that happening-so therefore I can't see Seton in Skaife's car--but the second car could be a possibility as Skaife & Seton are pretty good mates.
Cheers, Pickles.

Bathurst nowadays isn't about speed - unfortunately. Seton showed last year that he still has decent race pace. Combine that with the usual 400 safety cars, and that he can hand it over to Skaife after keeping up with the other co-drivers, this could be a good combo.
Skaife likes to pick veteran co-drivers I think. He last few wins were with Longhurst and Richards; many people thought these two guys were "past it"!
Should be good if its true (I think the HRT launch is tomorrow).

I disagree. That's why Jim was not in Skaife's car last year- simply because he wasn't quick enough. The logic behind the Skaife/Tander pairing was to have two "gun" drivers in the same car. Same with the two Kelly bros.(In this case of course there were championship considerations as well, but in both teams, the slower drivers were in the no. 2 cars- & that's where I believe Seton will be). You are correct about pace cars etc, but if you look at the pairings for this year, when they come out, I'm sure you'll find that all the top teams have driver pairings who are both quick, & capable of virtually the same times.
Cheers, Pickles.

skaife & seton in the #2 car should be good to watch for the enduros...
they have been around for so long that it would be good to see the "veterans" of the sport show up the young guns.
i guess coz they wont be able to switch drivers across the two Tom Walkinshaw teams then they will need other drivers for enduros....
but i am pretty sure seton was hired by stone brothers to be a mentor for James Courtney and help the team with technical stuff....but hey stranger things have happened

For someone who only drove a supercar for the endurance races, he did make some regular drivers look silly. I think a few other teams would love to have him this year as a driver and mentor to younger drivers. That's one of the reasons he was with Briscoe. He's a known quantity.

I think alot will depend on how Mark and Todd are sitting in the championship at endurance time. If they are both up the pointy end and HRT want to hedge their bets, then they won't drive together.

Skaife made it quite clear what he thinks about teaming up with a non-current driver. Lowdnes took his advice at Bathurst last year and it paid off. ;-)

The best way is to hand over the drive and see what the whipper can do!
