I am just starting to look at utes and would appreciate any tips on buying. I really like the look of the VY / VZ models. I dont want to spend more than about $35,000. Is there any models to avoid? Is there anything in particular to look for when buying?
Also what sort of size exhaust / extractors would you recommend. Is there a performance ECU mod or something I can get? Any info would be appreciated.
Sorry Im new to Holdens but want to get one for my new business. If there is a thread somewhere answering all these question, just point me there :)
Cheers

Hey mate welcome to the forum..
Ls1 engined cars can have a "edit" done. There are maf and mafless tuning with great gains to be had. No need to change the factory computer, a tuner can do it on the factory pcm.
Exhausts have been pretty much done to death, so a search will probably get your answers for you quickly enough :)
Most important bit of information i can offer you, is research all the mods you want to do, then plan it out, reducing the need to redo things again.
Good luck
Dan
Ps my favourite ute would be the VU model in delft Blue

I have a VZ SSZ M6 Impulse blue ute for sale.
35,000km
Full Sureflo exhaust (HPC extractors, 5" hi flow cats, single 3.5 exhaust)
Pedders SportsRyder extreme shocks with touring coils and Polyair bags
Genuine tray liner
Genuine 1600 kg tow bar
Rego until Nov 07
Nankang NS2 5000km old
A few other bits and pieces:
Shorter gear shifter
Leather centre console flip up cover (same as black leather seats)
All green dash and centre console lighting changed to blue LED's.
Great car, just not much good for going camping (my missus's latest fad) and I have doubts it will tow the boat I have just bought.
PM for questions or details...

Buy this one! Sounds sweet. Exhaust has been done properley and a bit more. Dont think you would be disappointed with it!

I know, I know... glad I spent the money on the exhaust, definately sounds like a V8 now. Exhaust is all stainless too... Big bikkies but will probably outlast the car. Was 195 rwkw stock and went up to 219.9 rwkw after exhaust.
Next on the cards was 3.9 diff gears, tex clutch, rip shift (why not whilst the box is out), Orrsom OTRCAI (already got name down with Sonny) and mafless edit.
Minister for finance has decreed that it must go (going to buy an Adventra LX8 if I can find a decent one. Real pity that the don't make the V8 any more.
Any offers guys? How much do you think my car is worth? I would rather sell it to someone that would appreciate the mods than to have to return it to standard before I trade it in...
