Im starting to prepare for my next car venture when the lease runs out on the clubby (14 months time)
I am either,
a) going to pay the residual (12k) and keep the clubby but do some decent mods with another 10k, (TT etc)
or,
b) buy a shitter to commute and start a project build on a LS2 Cobra replica.
When I am ready, the sled will have about 150,000kms on board. Is this too high for a TT modification. By the way, the 150,000 is 90% freeway driving.
The brain says (a), the heart says (b)
Advice???
PS....I am addicted to Cobras...

I would go the Cobra replica with an LS2. Sounds very interesting and then if you feel the need you can mod the LS2 as well.
You know you want to

I am in a similar situation to you. My SS has done 90,000k's and I'm concerned about going the GenTT. I think I will just Cam my car and wait until I get a new VE to go the GenTT.............no real reasoning behind this other than the fact I don't want to own a car over 100,000k's for too long.

Cam/Heads on an L98 VE SS. low-mid300rwkw and economy - more than enough power i think.

the cobra sounds good to me :),i biult and tuned a ls1 engine for a member here who has a cobra, and boy was it handful on the road !!! lots of fun ! on the other hand a TT would be fine on ur clubby as they are a much better engine :),as for the suto, might need a trip to craigs :), as far as VE goes with cam ? difficult at the moment as tuning is at the very early stages, theres a few VE'S that had the cams removed as fast as they were fitted, not as easy as some think :)

I met a bloke at Sonny's a few months ago with an Ls1 powered cobra. Sounded like a great package and will run a 10 very soon I think. I say go for (b). My 2c

Martins clubby 'nomercy' had 425+ RWKW with 145,000km on the clock.... Was boosted and beaten for a long time.... 25,000+ KM of it  The motor was pulled down due to its rally / circut racing future and guess what..... It all looked A1 when it was pulled down :) See the below thread for info and pictures.

In short.... I cant see any problems going TT with a 'high' km motor as long as its in good nick

I personally think that 14 months is still a fair way off and there will be a lot of sleepless nights . A lot can happen in that time . You might blow an engine, have a bingle (touch wood) ,something else might catch your eye, etc.etc. Your should evaluate your options then. Cheers John

Thanks Gareth..
I drive 200ks a day with 180 of those freeway driving. Car always serviced, no rattles, no slap, no oil issues, and only been to the track once for 3 runs.

Thanks Mustanger..
Blow an engine...possible but not likely.
Bingle..I hope not (unless its Lara)
Something else may catch my eye? Nope.
