First of all i'd like to say hi to everyone and intoduce myself to your forums before i talk shop, the depth of resources here is great to a novice like myself and i'm looking forward to learning more from u guys.
I own a 01 Vx clubby manual pretty much the basic package with the engine re pistoned and ringed at 45k kms , now is at 60k kms (yeah i dont use it much) because of slight slap noise after advice from a friend who had it done (VY parts i believe?). Now the time has come my loan is almost over and i got the need to do a few things to it as the cash flow is easing up finally.
I have browsed over the past few days at some of the users cars and mods they have done and i am really looking forward to getting the most from the car as i can. It's been on my "to do" list forever. Some of the mods listed that i have learnt include the basic cat back exhaust sysytem (being a hsv i believe i have good headers and cats?) and the edit to unleash the potential of the engine in its current form. Maybe a cam, diff gears and a clutch to hold it ofcourse, down the track but first things first.
I'm abit confused about the maffless tune and OTRCAI v's the standard HSV intake and standard Dyno tune and what would be better suited to the car. I've tried the search in the forums about this and i am believing maffless is better but i also see OTRCAI with maff installed and wondering how that setup goes in comparison. I think ive read to much too fast and failed miserably at the conception of it all.
Last of all i have the car booked in to get a cat back 2.5" system tomorrow and now im looking for a reputable shop to do the Edit and other bits and pieces in the West suburbs in VIC. Seeing i work 6 day weeks atm i don't have the time to get to some of the forum sponsers who are located in the east, tho if i have to, a "sickie" may be in order :).
Any help appreciated. Sorry for comming over as abit nieve to the mod scene, something i hope to learn more about as time goes on.
Thx for your time.
Dan.
