Picked up my issue of Motor today.
I'm not going to babble on about the Monaro stuff in the mag. That has been done in another thread.

But what took me by complete surprise was the Luxury Muscle Article.
I've always had a bit of a thing for the more subtle Senator but this is one surprisingly great review for the HSV.
A couple of great quotes
"The only car here to keep the E63 honest" Remember the Merc is $220k+
"Through our handling section, the Senator was almost 911-like in it's ability to withstand maximum acceleration from even before the corner apex"
"Dynamically, it is outstanding, with higher levels of roadholding then even the Audi"
I know we are all too quick to put the boots into Motor when the Lion Badge gets some bad reviews I gotta say this was one excellent review for HSV and the Senator.

On a seperate note the Editorial was an interesting read with most comment about why the GTs came in so low in the PCOTY.
Me thinks they might have coped a bit of a pasting from some readers over this one.

cheers

Did they explain how they only took the top 10 cars to the track, which included the GTS, then it ranked 18th :werd:

No they took the tact that HSV had given them the wrong car and that the Manuel R8 would've been the better car to test

They'll praise the VE, then they'll bag it. Its a continous cycle that sorta keeps the Holden fanatics happy, and pleases the Ford fans who want to see Holden fail happy too... But if what they say about the Senator holding better than an Audi and putting the pressure on the Beemer is true, then HSV really have done a remarkable job. :serenade:

its a shame they didnt test both R8 and GTS. would like to have seen the difference around a track with MRC..

as to using the wrong car.. Surely the auto cannot be that bad..

its early days for the gm box, it will develop and get better. when it does reach the level the zf is at now, it will be one hell of a combination with the 6l.

I agree it will improve and catch the ZF (which won't stay still), but they had the ZF for 2 years during development, did GM just take the normal "we know best" attitude and not look to use the Japanese "copy and improve" method.

Don't get me wrong the GM A6 is a fine auto (in plain auto mode), its just at the outer reaches and in manual mode the ZF is more refined. For 95% of joe public they will never fault it. Its just people like me who sometimes want to push it that geet to see its loose edges. My ZF never does that (although the 4.0l doesn't push it, like the 6.0l pushes the GM box).

Regarding this month's Motor... I was quite disappointed that their lead (cover) article was based around nothing more than computer generated images and hypotheticals... in this case a mock up of a next-gen convertible Monaro.

Joke is on me for not shuffling through the issue quickly before I bought it. But still, it seems Motor has exploited Holden fans' love affair with the Monaro in order to sell copies - when perhaps they didn't have enough real content to plaster all over the cover.

I'm not completely pissed off by any means, and I did enjoy the luxury V8's read, but I just think its a rather mediocre issue and disappointing by their standards.

I only just purchased the issue today, purely bcoz im looking forward to read the senatro v force8 v s6 v merc.

I had a quick flick through the mag and notice that they have a pic of the ss in pontiac guise.

The official pics for the pontiac G8 have been released and MOTOR still havnt got the pic in ther mag right. They have left the holden front bumper on instead of putting the pontiac G8 bumper.

MOTOR slowly seems to be slipping in terms of quality and now it seems in terms of being up to date. Motor need to get ther act together or there going to loose a lot of readers
