I've always like the look of the Lexus IS series, especially lowered and stuff.
But they have always been underpowered.. Not any more with this serious
contender.. any thoughts? personally the pipes at the back look a bit weird.

"The F-code IS is the first-ever true high-performance car from Lexus, and we see it as a legitimate challenger to the forthcoming BMW M3 V8. The IS-F is expected to be quick enough to reach 60 mph in less than 4.9 seconds.

The heart of the IS-F is a DOHC 5.0-liter V8 with a dual-intake system to help deliver 350 pound-feet of torque and specially engineered cylinder heads to help achieve a peak output of 400 hp. The V8 is adapted to a sequential-shift, eight-speed automatic transmission controlled by shift paddles located on the steering wheel. The transmission downshifts are accompanied by a throttle blip between gear selections. More important, a tightly calibrated torque convertor lock-up is expected to help deliver crisp throttle response."

Someone on another forum said they spotted one (heavily disguised) here in Australia recently.

I love the look of the current IS series, but I'm not sure about this one. Looks a little too overdone in those pics, but I'd have to see it in the flesh to make final judgement.

Can't complain about the powerplant though! :D I remember when they did a concept IS430 as an M3 competitor...pity they never released it.

Cheers,
- Febs.

I looked at the pics before reading what you wrote and I though I was having double vision, had to look 3 times before i realised there were two pipes. :werd:

The japs will never beat the germans while they insist on quirky styling extras. Those exhaust look strange. Subaru are good at adding things that detract from the styling aswell.

At some angles I can see VE in the current IS series.

Having said all that, it should be a little rocket though.

Wasn't the current IS series released before the VE?

Looks very nice tbh...Perhaps a little too pointy in the nose; I see a bit of celica in it. But otherwise cool. Oddball quad exhausts are different :D

"Hey Homer, way to go, you bought the 'F' series"....

Seriosuly though I would but one...how much though? We always get overpriced cars whilst the US will get it at half the price...

I'm not saying that they are twins but :1peek: look at the stance, swathe line, pumped guards, squared off rump, wheel at each corner, roofline etc etc

I'm gonna keep my hand there though - feels nice :flip2:
