It was due this coming Monday but dealer called today and said it has been delayed to the 27th of Feb due to problems with the color (silver).
I spoke with a VE GTS owner today and he said he has had issues with the paint on his silver GTS (spoiler and bumpers) and he said HSV are aware and going to replace. The blotchy paint work was clearly visible. What a pain in the you know what.
Anyone heard of this and/or had delivery delayed?

Any one else heard of this or had silver (Nickel) car delivery delayed?
I am assuming (hoping) it will have been delayed prior to painting at the factory or will they just respray the bumpers and spoiler?
hi there bouka, i have just ordered an ss in sliver for my manager in sydney. Dealer tells me approx 2 weeks? How long have you been waiting?

I am about to order an R8 in nickel and have been told the same thing yesterday. They said it appears to be with a miss match between the bumpers and the body. They also said that they expected it to be fixed within three days. The problem is with the paint supplier and they are onto it.

From what I hear Holden "ran out" of Nickel Silver. Yes that's right, "ran out". Not sure how accurate that is, or why they would run out of any particular paint colour. Miss matched colour sounds better, but either way there is a delay, which I believe has now been resolved with the paint supplier.

Ordered it on Jan 5th or 6th and was initially told delivery would be early Feb, then mid Feb (17th) and now being told 27th of Feb. Dealer has been excellent but wait is frustrating. Hopefully have my current ride sold in next couple of days but it has been hard to time the sale of mine with the arrival of the new one as date keeps changing.

Last time this happened was with Ford bumbers not matching with the body colour. Reason : Dirty spray guns during testing. I don't think that the supplier of the paint will let this happen again.

Holden would have got their planning wrong. The paint can be available within a few days if needed to be made, as long as the materials are at hand.

My VZ Quicksilver had to have the tailgate and rear bumpers resprayed as the paint was patchy too. That was in April 05! Sad to hear still having similar probs.
Hope you don't have to wait too long.

we have a silver WM statesman on the showroom floor at work - the side skirts are all blotchy, as if someone has gone along with a pressure pack can and sprayed with spots all over it - about 10cm in diamter!
not sure whats happening with warranty however, new skirts or just get them resprayed?? havnt got that far yet!!!
silver seems to be the only colour we've had problems with.

Silver is a notorious colour to have issues. The main issue quite often ends up being the metallic flake being patchy.
All I can say is that's it's better to have it sorted BEFORE spraying the car, and if that means a small wait, so be it!

I had the same problems with a 12/03 vyss2 ute skirts and bumpers, i was told paint always looks different on plastic??? i was in my painting gear and a different silver one on the lot was fine, once i pointed that out hes said your right and had it fixed.

too right! too bad if you get the car and its blotchy and has to be resprayed, then cant be matched accurately to the rest of the car - now thats a bugger. better to have it all sprayed at once properly to start with IMO.

There is no doubt that having it done all at once is the best way to do it. Looks like i may have sold my clubbie so i will have to take up dealers offer of loan car.

Ive noticed a couple of small blotchy patches on my Nickel SS. I only notce it when its dark as in the sun the nickel is SO damn shiney that it looks kind of white. No one else has noticed it tho.
My drivers door arrived with a paint defect. Almost like a overspray patch. I had it buffed etc and its pretty much gone away. I have been told i can have it resprayed, but i have seen ALOT of silver cars (commodores especially) that have had their doors sprayed and on a angle, look like the metallic fleck has been sprayed in the opposite direction (if that makes sence??)
Im not sure on whether to get it done incase i end up steaming and having to take the car back over and over again.
So its a good thing that your car has been delayed and they are going to make sure the problem is rectified before delivery. Just dont let them talk you into another colour!!
In the end tho, the nickel looks so damn nice!! It outways all the bads imho :yahoo:

The Nickel does look fantastic but i must admit i have been contemplating changing the color (and i figure if i change the color then maybe get the SSV).
I drove past a Nickel SS this afternoon and it reinforced both the Nickel and the SS (as opposed to the SSV) is the right choice.
I know the above statements sound schizophrenic but thats what happens when you are kept waiting so long for your car to be delivered.
Got a call from the dealer this morning and yes, THE CAR HAS ARRIVED!
Called the guy who is buying my Clubbie to finalise sale and he is getting cold feet. It's a conspiracy i tell you. Went from happy to frustrated in seconds. Can't wait for the VE to be in my garage.
