where is a good shop to get a maf tune done on a vx ss on the south side of brisbane
now i know everyone is going to say go maf less but the cars only mod is exhaust and the missus drives it regulary so its not really an option as its a family car and not really into modding this one
i will leave that for the other car of mine

There isnt one i'd recommend on the southside. Go see Powertorque and get it done right the first time. Its well worth the drive.

Usually need to leave it for the day.
Depends on what you want.
I had PT do an off the shelf maf tune (otherwise known as a mail order), and it took a grand total of 15 minutes. That was with them removing and refitting my PCM. Cost me $440.
However, if I had the choice again, I would save for a bit longer and go for the custom maffless. Yes, it will cost significantly more, but I think you will regret not doing it in the first place (I know I am  ).

Understand your position and it is so hard to describe via this medium the benefits of somehow getting your car over to Power Torque for an Edit but trust those who have replied to date, you won't regret it.
The same can be said if / when you ever need exhaust work then get yourself over to Mr. Muffler at Summner Park.
I can't ever remember seeing a negative post for either Power Torque or Mr. Muffler on this forum. Both shops are courteous, offer advice and do a professional job at reasonable prices and their after sales service is second to none.

With my work commitments I'm very much the same. Working full time with clients constantly looking for stuff I usually have to relly on my boss being understanding enough to allow me to take the day off or even the morning and afternoon off to get my car to PT. I live on the southside as well so I know the trip can be long too. See if you can get a trusted friend as well to either go with you or take your car in or to just help you out for the day with your responsibilities.
Getting work done to your car is not cheap and you dont want to have to spend more of your valuable time and money getting things rectified down the track. Go with PT they usually get everything spot on the first time. If they don't they are generally more than happy to rectify the problem on their own time (ie weekends).

Can I ask why you want the edit in the first place? If its your wifes car and the baby taxi would you reap all the gains to be had? I would save the money for they mods on your car down the track.
Congrats on the newborn they are a money pit aswell..:p

Tuff,
Search on my dramas with mods, and you will find that the only place to go is PT, there is no one on southside of Bris you can trust

Mate another vote for powertorque here to.
I live in the western suburbs 45mins from powertorque and ill make whatever sacrifices to get my car there as there is knowone else ill trust with my car for engine work and other performance mods.
If you let them know you are waiting for a maf tune you will only be waiting a couple of hours and there is a couple of lounges to sit at and TV there to watch.
Also another vote for Brad at Mr Muffler for exhausts. Does a great job.

Brad uses Ray of Western Suburbs Diff which is just round the corner from him. Id use knowone else other than Ray for diff work, hes done about 10 diffs for cars ive had.

Cost around $1250 to $1300.
Gearing depends on what your after really. It would be a toss up between 3.7s and 3.9s. The 3.7s a bit more street friendly if your driving the car everyday and the 3.9s if you want to chase every last 0.1 at the track. I run 3.9s in my auto and love them.
If i was you go for 3.7s it will really make the car even better and get it hauling off the line.

Yeah i have done some reading this morning on the forum, you hear different opinions, even read 3.43??
I had my zorst done with brad, it has drone at 60km/h, 1300rpm, when i shift it into 3rd it softens it.
Brad recommended i gear it, and he said the bottom end torque is unreal.
What is thge revs at 100kms, do you know
I have even heard you can save fuel in and around town, me thinks i would use more, pedal to the metal.

Another vote for PT love my Edit yes it is on the otherside on town, even for me Central Brisbane but every bit worth the drive, and just think after the edit its a good drive home
As for my Diff getting it done there in 2 weeks even after you do the ring around PT are buy far the best people I have had to deal with and as im a idiot when it comes to mods on cars they will answer any question without making you feel like a dumb a** for asking.

Power Torque are the only ones! And, being such nice guys, if you let them know in advance you may even get a loaner while they do the work.
And...if you fit 3.46 gears you will be disappointed and will then spend the money twice because you'll fit 3.73 or 3.91 later on ...most do...(including me).
Same with your tune - I had a maf-tune and was disappointed until I came back and went the whole hog with a maf-less. It's only money you know...;) :burnout: :driving:
