I was thinking about removing the rear spoiler on the Clubby, but not quite sure how it would look. I was wondering if anyone has done this and if so has any pictures of it.
I've done a search and have seen some VY's and VZ's and they look quite good, but can't find any VX's. The no spoiler look on the lowered VY/VZ looks tough, but I'm thinking the square boot has a lot to do with it. I'm just not sure how the no spoiler on the rounded VX boot will look, especially on a clubby with the rest of the body kit remaining.
I'll take it off myself and have a look if no one has any pic's, but I thought I'd try here first.
Cheers.

I cant find any pics just now, but they look so much tougher without SPOILers!
They look nice and low without wings as well.

I think the no spoiler look is awesome
but the vx hsv kit is not one to be messed with, just works so well
Without the spoiler, i feel it'd look abit like a kitted up commo

Despoiler it!!!
Ive seen plenty of clubby's from VT-VZ that have been despoilered and it looks very tough, it would be the first thing Id do if I had a clubby or even gts although needs to be nice and low if no spoiler.
Theres a VY clubby (FPVKLR) with no spoiler and lowered and it looks awesome, not sure if hes on here though
Yeah i agree with them. Take it off they look wicked, but it needs to be slammed on it's guts too.

Don't think about it, just do it. No Spoiler FTW :)
Make sure your car is lowered too.

Thanks - I haven't lowered it yet, waiting until I get the 19" VX GTS rims on before I see how much lowering is required. After that the rear spoiler will more than likely come off

Personally I think it looks a bit shltty without the wing.
I'm all for it on most cars, my other car is de-spoilered, but it makes HSV's look like kitted up commo's. Not a fan, especially on VT-VX's.

There is a kitted up VX commodore in Lakes Entrance to look like a VX clubsport minus the rear spoiler. The back just doesnt work well, it doesnt flow.
The rear bottom spoiler (bumper bar) sticks out to far and looks odd looking when you take the boot spoiler off.
Leave it on.

Totally agree. Don't do it ;)
It looks awesome with the later models though.

yeah do it. i had a mate with a vx gts with no wing, just lowered. it looked awesome. however i would probably lower it first other wise it might look abit funny jacked up at the back with no wing.

Leave it on, or suffer the wrath of looking like another HSV Wannabe...
What is it with everyone ripping wings off? Seriously, if you want a sleeper, don't buy the horniest car and try to turn it into a Mazda 323.
Seriously, HSV do a great job of integrating their kits, and the lines look like crap without the wing. I have seen a silver R8 with no wing, and the owner soon put it back on!

Yeah i got to agree, a VX Clubby will look a bit unfinished. Later models HSV cars look good so does VT onwards SS commies.
But its your car !

Not all of us are about image, who cares what other people think, they just look lower meaner and tougher without wings!
Same reason a lot of people remove badges, cars look better without them.
I couldnt care less driving down the street if someone sees my ute wih no SS or V8 badges and thinks its an SS wannabe.

An SS is not an HSV though...
Badges are not even close to removing a spoiler, and HSV's aren't EVER gonna be a sleeper

The person asking the question obviously cares what people think, as this is why the thread was started. I have not seen many SS/HSV cars running around without badges, but I have seen a stack of 6 cylinder cars done up like a V8 but without the badges.
To be honest I would leave it on, as I have done on both my R8 & SS, but this is just my opinion & not advice as to what you should do. It also means when I go to sell them that they are still original.
But saying this, it can be made to look the goods with right suspension & hoops

i took the wing of my ss and it looked 10 times better looked really tough especially with the lowered stance, i would keep it that way if i could be bothered getting a new boot or the holes filled up.

Here's my VX (http://www.ls1.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=59930)with (and without) it's rear wings clipped, with the std FE2 springs.
..... and it only gets better now that it's lower.
I like it, but it's not to everyone's liking.
Cheers

Thanks everyone for your opinions. It seems about a 50/50 split. I think it's gonna be a case of taking it off and having a look for myself.
In any event, if I do decide to keep it off, I think I'll be buying a 2nd hand boot from the wreckers and keeping the original just in case. Like I said, VY/VZ definitely looks tougher without the wing, but with the VX it's going to be one of those things that you're either gonna love or hate
