My opinion, looks great ... would I do it ? Nope, the car would be trashed in a few weeks. If ours wasn't the family transport that went in and out of shopping centres every week and over speedbumps every day, maybe, but not for a daily driver.
On another note ... I love the spoiler

one word.... TOUGH.
like nick said though would hate to go over any speedbumps.
but if its just a crusier that is one hell of a car.

When the system detects that someone's email is bouncing, they get moved into a different group until their email is fixed. This group doesn't have a label like "Validated, Non Vaidated, Sponsor, etc"

While it looks the goods. why would you buy a GTS and then totally ruin the MRC effectiveness by dumping it like that? Might as well have bought a Clubby

Yeah, it might look good, but whats the point if you can`t drive it. I think we have all been there and done that. Lowering it that low does look hot,but when you are entering or leaving a driveway and it scrapes all the way ,you sometimes want to bury your head in the sand. Just my 2 cents worth........John

best VE i have seen to date. perfect colour, perfect stance. doesnt look like it would scrape everywhere to me. you know when you go up driveways you dont have to hit them head on at 10k's an hour, seems some people on here have a different opinion though. however speed bumps may be a problem but how often do you hit them? well i canberra i rarely do.

Sorry bout the pic quality fellas, 2yr old phone ... Shoulda taken one of the front too, but he was standing there didnt wanna over do it ...my bad
I reckon it looks the goods. The way the VE have their exhaust set up is great, its so tucked up and outa the way that you could lower it that much. Would still scrape but more chassis then exhaust.
NickS, get some air bag susspension in the GTS mate!

I guess he wanted a lowered GTS not a lowered R8?
Some people prefer looks over ride quality so good luck to him. I think it looks awesome but practicality wise, it's hard to tell exactly how much clearance he has with that pic.
When I get one in a few months time, the plan for me is to lower it and remove wing.

Exactly, plus which would be worth more in the future: a Clubby, or a GTS?
I still think that if it really is as low as this pic portrays it to be, it may just be airbags, I reckon if someone went to the efforts of lowering a GTS they wouldn't want to ruin it on a speed bump or a driveway.

Several people in this thread reckon he wouldn't have any problems ... have you ever driven an E Series GTS ???
Mine is stock height, check out the under side of the front & rear bumpers ... lots of scratches !!! This thing would loose it's front bar in less than day if you tried to use it around Sydney. How often do I see a speedhump ? Every 2nd street around here has them !!! I have into my work carpark so I don't loose the front bar.
Having said all that ... I still reckon it looks awesome.

Nick, exactly what i was getting at... My E R8 has scratched front AND REAR bars.. i have a tow bar, and the mounts for the connector are smashed to peices from a shell servo, admit i had the boat on though... Its like me old VY was when it was lowered...
Dam it looks so good though!

It would be interesting to hear from the boys at HSV and get their comments on the effect of the lowering of a MRC equipped car.
I hear all the stories about lowering a GTS ruining the MRC action but are these stories totally correct.????
I wonder if they read threads on our forum ??
If so a reply would be appreciated.
BTW The car looks sensational at that height...
HSVQUE
21-02-2007, 03:19 PM
seriously speed humps arnt the issue... unless there the stupid ones that they have in elwood beach carpark here in victoria.. drive ways and entrances are the major issues.. some servo's, take away joints etc..
Supose the car could be air bagged but its to hard to tell from the pic exactly how low the car is.

That ride height would ruin the performance of a standard suspension package, let alone MRC - you'd be bouncing along on the bumpstops.
If you lowered it a small amount I think the MRC would still be affected, but there would be some parameters set in to cope with it considering if you load up the boot and the back seat with people and gear, the car will dip a fair amount anyway

Wholly crap!
I often ask myself why people lower their cars this much?
I've only lowered mine enough so it looks good otherwise i'd need to change the chamber setup, plus when i fill the back of the ute up with crap, couple of hundred of kilos or so, she sits low.
For a show car, yes, this is fuming shit hot just like lastnights curry, but as a daily driver, you'd be damaging the undercarriage wherever you drove!
Good luck to the owner!!!

Nicely summarised Kris, HSV spend all that money developing the MRC so that it works a treat, then someone goes and does that.
I'd imagine that with that ride height and on 20" rims the ride would almost have to be pretty harsh. A shame to potentially ruin a fantastic canvas like that, but each to their own I guess.
