Your best bet would be ring some insurance company's & get a quote or do some online quotes. I pay about $650 for My Monaro but in in Melb

Ring all the usual companies, as well as the 'modified' specialists

if you're referring to what i'm paying, yeah but i went for all the options and excess is down to $100 with one free windscreen replacement per year... in any case i'm going to try Rhino insurance (sp?) as my one ends in 2 weeks, and I've heard pretty good numbers are with Rhino.

25yr old $1200 a year with just cars and car is insured for 65k (agreed value)

With who...I looked into buying a Monaro I got quoted $3500 per an. for $30 grand value thats from GOI, Suncorp etc.
GIO dropped my value to $ 25 g's and still wanted $ 1400 per .an.
Now it's insured for $30 g with AAMI with all the mods.
and no one will nowhere match that for my ute...a 65 % no claim bonus and no offences for over 5 years.
I don't know how some of you pay so little.

...... everyones quotes are going to be different because it depends of a shit load of rating factors. call up a few different companies and get as many estimates as you can, every company will be a different price and you will get pretty much the same coverage all round.

imo stay away from budget direct....... thats all i got to say.

im 22 yrs old:
i was quoted $1100 for a 2002 monaro
and i currently pay $862 for my vy SS.
just an example of how different prices from person to person.

my advice , shop around !!, dont listen to fast talking sales consultants, and stick to well known, well established companies to insure with.

Ive saved a good amount insuring my bike with ryno. Got them to quote on the VE, they were cheaper than the insurance that the lease company organised but was out of my hands by that stage. They were a little slow to start with as it was around christmas, but all good in the end.
Dont get too hung up with using the bigger names in the insurance industry as quite often you will find that the service they provide in the event of a claim is deplorable. Had issues with one of the biggest car insurers years ago when car was stolen. Was recovered burnt out next day but still took 4 months to settle.
Currently having dramas with another insurance company after B&E at home. 6 months and still waiting for claim to be settled. Got another claim with them for storm damage now and wondering what hoops they will make me jump through this time.

I'm paying $1600 with Shannons and I am 23. The car is insured for $40000. Don't know if this helps at all?

jimmy_slip
22-02-2007, 04:59 PM
the problem with Shannons and Just Cars is that if your car is registered under "business use" then they wont insure you.

Thanks to everybody for thier input,i guess i will give rhino a call and see what they have to say,not sure what to do now,do i keep the HQ coupe i have and buy a cheap run around car or bite the bullet and get a newer monaro,it sounds like the fact that it's a coupe's still is a drama.
When i was an apprentice i had a moanro hq on my P's and full insurance back then was $1600,forward to now and my HQ is fully insured for $25k and costs me $650
Might have to wait a bit longer and see what happens with the monaro prices both old and new.
Thanks again for all the input
Ps i ahve never heard of rhinos where are they at,phone number?
Regards Jason

It thru Just car Insurance which is more or less AAMI, i have higgins heads and cam, 10k brake upgrade and all the usual stuff on a vz clubby, i am a rating 1 with no claims in 7yrs of insurance, i am going to rhyo when this contract is up as they are $400 cheaper and the excess is less also.

CHeers

to insure a monaro is your problem.

Exxy for any two-door, but esp. Monaro because less secondhand parts from wreckers than SS, interiror bits have to be ordered, very expensive inside bits if stolen and stripped, etc, etc.

I'm on about $1100 a year in Vic with RACV - I've been told by others that's a good deal. Some insurers won't touch them.

Also ask when comparing about the excess. If you agree to a higher excess your premium can be lowered heaps.

I'm with AAMI. My premium is $460 a year, but my excess is $1500. Insured for $45k.
I do not drive the car every day, so my chance of a smash are less.
