after my turbo install it feels much hotter in the cabin sort of like the heater is always on. Its espically noticable when you come back to the car after its been parked for a while. Has anyone else got this problem

I had no temp differance inside the car at all. I did add some insulation near the cars and crossover pipes though. Engine bay temps are a little higher but not excessive. You can get the insulation from Holden for about $6 a sheet.

i didnt put a proper gromit around where the battery cable comes throught the firewall and it must be bring in hot air from the engine bay. ill check it out tomorrow and i might also insulate a few things to help under bonnet temps while im at it
thanks guys

Anybody getting fumes from the vented oil cap into their cabins? Putting the computer inside the car through the big grommet on the passenger side seems to let them through. Is it wise to use some of that expanding foam to block the hole?
Paul.

i've used fast drying fire retardant, paintable expanding foam (Bunnings), it blocks it quite nice, not a trace of fumes. Spray it black and it's undetectable. Unless you like pink...
Vented oil cap doesn't seem to be giving me problems either. it's a 25,000kms engine

The insulation was a pain to put on, especially the thick thermal tape... you know which one :) ... and cramped spaces didn't help. But it does pay off. I've got 3 different layers on the aircon and it's super cold even when idling at lights for a long time.
I hate the position of the unifilters, I think they can pick up cooler air still. And they tend to loosen the clamp after a week. What a pain. I'll have to listen to Sonny and find a replacement for them but I wonder if there's a better place for air pickup.

Mine are sited right down into the guards, seems to work a treat. Would have been interesting to log the before and after intake temps.

Would you get similar temps with a Twin Screw supercharger ?
Anyone with superchargers notice temp differences too ?

i would say that it is the exhaust heat being generated that causes the heat in the cabin, superchargers don't generate that much heat. at a guess

My Girl notices the floor of the passenger side gets hot. Big 3 inch exhaust runs close to the floor no Cat, straight off the dump pipe.
I know 3 inches isnt big but keeps my girl happy...:yahoo:

No problems here but ive HPC coated everything even intercooler pipework and my A/C pipes have the holden heat proof foil on them and i have a turbo beany. you guys must have air leaks into your cabins either through the firewall or transmission tunnel.

How much would all this additional heat treatment, sheilding, paint, for having the turbo's add up too ?

$200 in my case, for 40 metres of thick heat wrap + stainless zip ties
wrapping it properly took good 7 hours
