I'm taking delivery of an '06 build but brand-new VE R8 on Friday. What sort of things should I be checking for, or pre-emptively have the dealer perform?
I've already got -
(1) handbrake adjustment
(2) climate control software fix
(3) bluetooth volume software fix
I eyeballed the car before I signed, and the dealer - who is a good mate - pointed out the usual areas where fitment has been a bit suss, and this one is a very good example.
Any other suggestions greatly appreciated.
KC.

KC if its Nathan from City Holden then your on a good thing.
The list you provided is about it I reckon. My Dec 06 GTS which I got in Jan has been flawless. Not even a rattle ... hmmm it doesnt feel right without at least one ;)
Mate gratz on the R8 purchase ... what a sweet car :yahoo: .

Congrats on the new car! If the dealer is a good mate I'm sure he'll do the right thing by you. He'll look after you even if things crop up later.
Just make sure you check out the panel and paint for any dents and scratches, 'cos once it's left the dealership there will be an arguement as to when the damage happened.
Hi KC...
congrats on new purchase mate !!
Folllow up with dealer re Fuel Hose leak. I know there were a batch of a couple of thousand with late 06 build that have this. Mine is going in this week to fix and was Oct 06' build. Also do a search on here and you will gather alot of info from issues people are finding which will help .
Enjoy your new toy:yahoo:

maybe when you have done the search you can compile a vehicle delivery checklist other people on this forum could use... would turn the tables on quite a few dealers when the customer turns up to collect their car and wants to run through a stringent, and well researched, checklist prior to taking delivery... especially if you get the salesman to sign off on noted issues before departing the dealership....

I'm not sure if its still the case with the VE but the VZ's had small blocks of wood in the front coils to make them sit a bit higher to aid in getting them on and off the trucks when transporting them. Our sv6 still had them left in when we got the car, one fell out while driving it home. :cussing:

Not all things will be done in the pre-delivery. "IF" your car is pre-breakpoint for the "fixes" you mention, they are usually fixed on an as required basis after delivery. Just because you hear of known issues on a forum doesn't always mean they are things that are automatically fixed. Some are done only if they actually show symptoms of a problem.
Main point: Be very wary of anticipating too many potential problems before you take delivery. You might spoil your enjoyment of it....

KC your list is about right, another maybe, only yesterday I went to bacchus marsh. after getting back in car, it was showing voice in on dash, & we could hear noises in speakers. tried everything to fix, had to turn phone off in the end to fix. one more problem which will be hard to fix, once you drive your new beast you will have trouble parking it, good luck with it dude:driving:

Yep you're right there. It fell out going through Bobs Farm, not that much of a big deal except my wife was following me in my car and it luckily went under it.

Air Con pressure check (ask them to do it before you leave).
Gearbox oil level check (if A6 in particular).
Front centre speaker rattle check (put on something with low frequency (AM stations work well). Listen for the rattle.
Steering alignment check (rather hard in walk around, but ensure its done at 3000km).
Drive at 100km/h on a smooth road and ensure no shake/shimmy in the steering wheel (tyre balance).
Taillight/boot alignment (check left and right gaps are the same).
Check handbrake and down side of passenger grab for sharp plastic edges particulalry around front of handbrake.
Check glovebox opening and closing, try locking it and see if you can open it while locked (some can!).
Thats some more for your list (this will apply equally to VE as HSV).

Sorry I meant wheel alignment not steering alingment.
Also check under the seats for clip on plastic peices to be fitted correctly (at the rear end of the seats rails.
Check in the footwells for exposed carpet edges.
Check oil change service flag (in engineering menu) to ensure its at 100%.
Check visors tension and that the mirror covers slide easily.
Seems like a big list but they are all issues which have been reported.
