Officially limited to 250kph, and as was said, ungoverned would top out in the 280kph region.

are you guys sure they are limited to 250? pretty certain the limiter is 280 - the same as what the speedo reads at its highest...

Well dude, if you are asking if I have topped one out yet......well no. Am going by media releases incl the factory ones.

However if anyone has an E Series and is willing to lend it to me for "testing" purposes, I will be happy to oblige......:deal:

i dont beleive that 250km/h limiting.
old- 1999 grange did over 250 stock a couple of times.
id find it hard to beleive they would lower the limit 8 years on?

Well they have. It is in their documentation. I suspect it is part of the standards required export program.
FPVs, BMWs, AMGs etc are all limited to 250. It seems to be a european standard and yes I know Ferrari, Porsche etc are not but they are sports cars not saloons.

I have had my VX R8 over 250, it was not long after reaching this speed that both of the glass in my side mirrors turned inwards, scared the beejesus out of me, didnt know what the noise was until I had coasted down to a lesser speed,

did the limiter come in after the VX range?

With the VE's .. anything over 240 and your antenna on the roof is hitting tapping your back window.

So I've been told ;)

Z series Clubby topped out at at 270 plus, and that is the just superseded model................

BTW, the limit is definitely 250kph. And my base VE SS is limited to 240kph cos its on 18's and lower spec tyres.

I agree, you have to have 19's or better from the factory to get 250km/h limit. So SSV and HSV's are 250.

It would be easy to find out, just jack the back up and rev it in 6th... I've done it in a couple of bashers, was great to go from 0-200km/h in 1 second in the old torana :eyes:

The R8 was tested on fifth gear and on a 2 mile long road it reached 155mph in 5th with another 500rpm left in 5th gear but not enough road.

The R8 uses Y rated tyres which are a 300kph rating. The 19 inch SSV has a W rating tyre which is good for 270, the SS & Calais with 18" wheels with a V rating tyre = 240 kph. Hence you may wish to note the tyre rating before you go lifting speed limiters .... a blow out at 270 would probably end in tears. :bawl:

Those ratings are at full load, at full tyre pressure for 10 mins constant, so a quick blurt wont usually split em.

As for the VX clubby, no they weren't limited and in stock form got 265km/h not bad for the the 255kw factory spec car.
