The harmonic balancer on the front of the crank is the pulley that drives all your accessories - air-cond, power-steer, alternator, water-pump etc. A 25% under-drive is one which has 25% smaller circumference and therefore runs the accessory drive belts 25% slower. The idea is that if all the accessories consume say 16kw in power to be driven, you should in theory save 25% of that, so 4kw... It's not a mod that would put high on my list, although I do have one.

Are you serious? Most people telling you to use the search button
are not being unfriendly, just trying to point you in the right direction
toward a wealth of info and at the same stopping the forum from
being cluttered with doubled up info :teach:

personally i dont think its ever needed to be said, unless the person is a regular poster and then he/she should know better
i help moderate a website with in excess of 28,000 members and is the second most busy ford website in the world, sometimes we have online in excess of a thousand members at a time, so we get asked the same old questions time and time again, very rare you get someone saying use the search function, they just answer the question or post a link to a post helping them out. i just find it wierd that by the time you type use the search button you could have just told them the answer and its makes for a friendly'er site. imho

Actually something I've been thinking a bit about - how about putting together a FAQ for these kinds of questions. It would be stickied so would be at the top of the forum, and would be the first place people would go to for information. The search function is ok, but it can take a bit of time to sort through posts, not all of which contain the accurate/relevant info.
Obviously it would be large undertaking, but hey you've got to start somewhere right? I'd guess you would have to lock the post so that only poeple authorised to add to the FAQ could do so, but it would be a fairly straight forward process to break it down in sections.
What do you think? Good idea, or belongs in the too hard basket?
