hey all
i have a vt ss series 2 m6 and my gear box is quite noisy, i have searched about 6000 threads and what i have found is that in general the gearboxes are quite noisy for everyone. i havre just put on a new gearbox boot as mine had a big tear in it. this has not fixed the problem. It sounds like a bearing has sh*t itself but i have no performance loss.
my question is: can you change the gearbox oil to silence the gearbox noise, any feed back would be appreciated.
cheers.

changing the gearbox oil with something better than the standard Dextron III will certainly improve it. Mainlube has a good product by all reviews on this forum. I use Castrol Transmax Z and it quietened the box quite a bit when I flushed it.

However, I put transmax in the T56 in my VT and it magnified the noise.

Mainlubes gear oil will certainly shut it up to a larger extent than ATF and IMO is definitely the way to go. Tis expensive stuff but very worth the $$$.
