I need to remove the centre of the steering wheel ..(horn pad/air bag cover) to replace the steering wheel volume control switch

I can see the 4 "spring type" clips that need to be released when looking at the back of the steering wheel but it seems you need 4 arms to do it.

Im sure this question has been asked before but I couldnt find anything in a
search.

Car is a VZ SS ute

Nobody knows....so I went to the local Holden dealer.

Need a special tool..they want $75 to do a 1 minute job...and Ive bought 4 new cars from them in last 6 years.

Mate the "special tool" is just a flathead screwdriver:p just stick in hole & slight twist you do one at a time. just remeber to disconnect battery first. it's really very easy to do. i changed the steering wheel on our Vy Berlina not hard to do at all

Ok thanks...Ill try again.

It appeared that you had to release all 4 at the same time.

Another question....
My wife broke the volume switch in her car ages ago (VY SS). Ive driven my ute for 110k klms and I give to somebody for a day and it comes back with the volume switch hanging off...WTF did they do to break it. (I didnt ask)

Might have been turning the wheel and "stabbed" the button when trying to grab the rim to turn it.
